The casual gamers will easily switch to smart phones and tablet gaming because they don't play enough to warrent spending hundreds of dollars on hardware and games. A tablet and smart phone is costing them hundreds already and they need those items for other tasks. Browsing on the internet sucks on gaming hardware, but it's great to do it on a tablet. Gaming companies drive their hardware prices up trying to do every thing but that is foolish, they need to focus on gaming and gaming related features. In many ways Nintendo is best at this, their hareware plays games and not much else which keeps costs down and thats better then trying to be every thing and costing to much. Just ask sony about the PS3 problems when it first came out.
All though it is not exactly identical it is very close in shape and button placement. When I first saw it my first reaction was hay isn't that an xbox controller. I don't even own an xbox but the controller is very distinct. I didn't say the wii u was an xbox just that the xbox like controller would be more appropriate for certain games that the tablet.
Maybe this is why Nintendo said they were also going to release a xbox like controller for the wii u as well, cause not all game play will fit well with the tablet. I wish some of these people that are in the gaming industry would pay more attention to news about the industry their in.
The console will probably not be any thing really impressive, no dvd or blu ray playback so that part will be cheap. The tablet is were the cost will be but it not impressive like an ipad so I could see the wiiu selling for $299.99 or 349.99. Any more and the casual gamer will probably wait for a sale or price drop. People know that if they hold out Nintendo will have to drop prices just to not go bankrupt.
