i bought a 360 in october 2007,and the manufacturer date on the xbox was october 2006..i was like "wtf dude? don't you have some recent consoles?" and they told me that is the most recent shipment. (i live in romania,so it not that surprising)
when i got home and opened the box i didn't wave a power cable, that wasn't that much of a problem but the controller's right stick didn't work.so i boutgh another controller:| that cost 50 us dollar in romanian money.
the store is the biggest electronics store in romania and they give u a 2 year warranty on anything you buy,and that's pretty cool:)
my xbox's dvd drive broke in 2 months, gave me the unreadeable disk on anything i put in,and i didn't play that much...i play 4 hours max and not everyday.
i went to the store and told them my problem,of course they didn't know how to deal with the xbox warranty,i was waiting around there for an hour and finally they sent me to the store's service department. at the service department there was a woman i just told her the problem and she said to me "we are sorry,we can't repair the console here in Romania so we will give you a new one".
i went back to the store and got a new one of course, again the manufacturer date was October 2006 (i was getting the new one in January 2008 :| i asked again if they had some recently ones, again the same answer. i asked about the elite, they didn't know when they receive elites.
the new console is working fine until now but again i don't play that much,so i hope it will last longer.and the xbox cost 600 us dollars in Romania, and that's not cheap at all in Romania.at least they give you a new console the same day it brakes.
now that's my story about the almighty 360. :)
i have a question,my TV is a samsung 26inch TV and of course supports 1080i,should i set the resolution in 720p or 1080i? someone told me that the xbox is overheating even more in 1080i.
