Get freespace 2 has got to be the all time classic in the space sim genre and unfortunently one of the last great games for that genre as well. You can use the keyboard mouse controls but joystick is just so much better. you can get it from www.the-underdogs.info for free (dont worry about legality, the site only hosts freeware games so there is no legal or moral reason for you not to download the games, though alot of them are extremely dated)
the one game that i would love to c a sequal for is Freespace heck id love to see any game that is worthy of my joystick... its sad that they let the space sim genre die like it did
