Nice informative article. Good to know the other options available. When these drives come down to similar to high end HDD prices they will become financially viable. Capacity isn't too much of an issue at the moment most sizes at that point in the future should be suitable, even for high def downloads and game saves however the extra speed that these drives can provide will come in handy as games become larger utilizing more of the available capacity upon a blu-ray disk. Also as internet speeds continue to grow I see the write rates on storage mediums becoming an issue. However that may not be the case during the lifespan of this generation of console.
Thats quite a huge leap!! I personaly think that the graphics are quite impressive, its a different style than Gears of War but it pulls it off well. I used to not like the Halo graphics cause they were to bright and colourfull for a "War" game *or combat or whatever u want to call it* but the lighting in this game makes it darker, more atmospheric and far more visually impresive. Sharper textures add to this quite a bit but I will admit that some of them could have been improved... They suit the game and the improvements are vast in comparison with 2. Considering the scale of some of the levels and the enviroments within those levels it would have been difficult to improve them too much without framerate issues, theres only so much a console can push. Even if you don't like the series or whatever you have to at least admit they done a good job with this game, made the graphics worthy of the 360, finished the story, tested it to death to make sure its stable and added some new features that once you've used them you expect them in EVERY game you play!!
I used to always stick with console games because it's what i could afford but now taht i've got more money and can buy a decent spec pc, £500 will get you the components required to play every game out. Not much compaired to the X360's £250 and ps3's £450 (roughly) considering the spec difference but i still feel that console are worth there money. PCs are good for other things and they will probably always be best for RTS, MMOGs and FPS but for most other games it depends. For some games the input system with a mouse and a keyboard just doesnt feel right (Grand Theft Auto series for example) and will always be better with the specificly designed gamepads. Also if you have people round at your house its easier to just plug to controllers in and set up a match on a console than set up 2 gaming rigs over a lan which even if your lucky enough to have will probably be in different rooms. For RTS, FPS, MMOG and people who feel graphics are a MUST then pc is better for them but for people that just want to play every now and then or dont have the money to constantly upgrade there system consoles are the way to go. For this game as its an FPS i'd go with pc.
