If you want a great shooter, Bad Company 2 is amazing, but it's coming out in March 2010, you can still probably find a Beta key for it online and play the beta for free for a while. Resistance 2 is also a great game, with a good story mode, online coop, and online competitive. I've personally gotten 150+ hours of gameplay from it, but I would recommend renting and beating the first one to get a feel for the game and story. If you want a racing game, there's four to choose from (until Gran Turismo 5 comes out of course :) ). Midnight Club LA Complete Edition is a great choice if you're looking for a good arcade street racing game with car customization. I've gotten 150+ hours of gameplay from this one too. It's probably the best street racing game of this gen that's out right now. Grid and Dirt 2 are good games, made by the same company. Get Grid if you want track racing, and Dirt 2 if you want off road. They both have a demo on the PlayStation Store if you want to check them out. Motorstorm is another off road racer, but with a more arcade feel than Dirt 2. All in all, if I were you, I would pick Resistance or Midnight Club. And you're going to have a lot of fun with LBP if you have someone else to play with :)Thanks, I dont know why I am not considering a call of duty game, I just didnt really want one, now Im considering it, thanks for the help and advice on getting burnout paradise (sorry for the bad grammar, my keyboard is screwed up right now.) I was thinking about a racer I just didnt know if burnout paradise would be a good choice (I did read and watch reviews, just I heard people disliking the open world but they were more of the kind of gamer that wanted a super easy game) Thanks again

If you have someone else to play with then LittleBigPlanet GOTY. If not, there's Resistance 2, R&C, Infamous, and Dirt 2.I was wondering if someone could provide me with some advice on what extra game to get for Christmas for my PS3.
So far on my PS3 I have
Modern Warfare 2
Burnout:Paradise
Battlefield 1943
Metal Gear Solid 4
And for Christmas I am getting :
Uncharted 2
Assassins Creed 2
I am looking for one other full-priced (New releases basically, as I can pickup older releases preowned for a lower price with my own money after Christmas.) to get along with these.
So far I am thinking of purchasing either Dragon Age: Origins or Borderlands. (Any other game recommendations are appreciated.)
For Dragon Age: Origins I am being put off by it being on console rather than a PC. As well as performance on a console, and if the game may be too complex for me as I don't have any deep experience of any other RPGs and apparantly this is quite an old-school based, so may not appeal to me.
As for Borderlands, I am put off by the rumours that I've heard that the PS3 online is poor. As well as I have a feeling the game may get repetitive fast (However I enjoyed Diablo II and suprisingly Hellgate:London - for a while.) And also if there is a lack of content.
I am also looking for the games to last me a decent time, and for me not to get bored of them.
So can anybody clear up my negative thoughts, and if you own/played (for a few hours atleast) both games your view on them and which I should purchase, or any other games worth looking at.

[QUOTE="LP4EVA2005"]It's the same technology. I guess it's not as good as an HDTV because it doesn't have a TV Tuner built in? Yeah, a monitor is just a TV without the TV tuner and speakers...1080p HD monitor baby 8)
i'll admit, its not as good as a HDTV but anythings better then an standard TV.

I'm thinking of buying MGS4 soon and was wondering if I need to play the earlier games in the series. Thanks.

they designed the level editor so that anyone can use it, so if someone can play the game then someone can easily make a level. these kids that can't are the same kids that have trouble holding a can of soda or keeping the markers off their faces and clothes. now of course the level of skill with using the editor varies, but it is clearly designed....with video tutorials i might add, so that anyone who is capable of following directions may use to some degree, so in the case thats been brought up, the most likely answer is that those kids are just to kiddy to use them which has nothing to do with the editor being designed for 40 year olds or something. however with that being said i can see how parents might get into helping with creating levels and such for their children, but that doesn't make this game any less kiddish. and just because older people might play and enjoy the game....again has NOTHING to do with a game being kiddish or not. clearly people need to look the word up and find out what we are actually talking about here. some people don't like playing kiddish games period, and with that being said those people should easily be able to figuer out if this game is to their liking or not by watching a few video's or playing the demo p.s. stickers anyone? lol kids....machiavell8x8
I don't see what is "kiddy" about this game. Yeah, there's no gore, violence and strong language, but does that mean that racing games, R&C, and Mario are "kiddy"? No. What about Rock Band and Guitar Hero? Anyone can pick up and play those games without a problem.
Here's the definition of "childish" according tho Merriam-Webster: marked by or suggestive of immaturity and lack of poise; lacking complexity
This game in fact is complex, and is relatively mature. I actually find the community to be alot more mature than the 12 and 13 year olds who play COD, cussing and acting all tough.
Here is how it goes down in my opinion. There are 5 Acts.
Act 1: You can play through most of this and get it, because it relies very little on the previous games.
Act 2: A little background info from MGS1, would help clarify a few things in the middle cut scene, but that's it.
Act 3: Very heavily driven by the plot of MGS3.
Act 4: Very heavily driven by the plot of MGS1, and you probably won't get the intended emotional effect if you haven't played it.
Act 5: This is the act that helps tie everything together. You will need to know backgroud info from MG, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, and what you have learned in MGS4 to understand the end of this act. This is the act that you will be confused on if you don't play the previous games, or at least look into the background info of them.
