My [Updated] Life, and my 2008 Election picks thus far.

I haven't written here in a while, and that's a problem.

Anyway, my life recently has been pretty hectic, parties, farewells, and the inevitable, approaching move in day.
College/University starts soon, and I couldn't be more excited, but then again I'm stressing out with the money. damn, why couldn't this **** be free?

And because I can't resist, I'm going to state my Thoughts about the 2008 elections! [My picks]!

Possible Vice President: John Edwards

Highlights:Experience. Social Freedoms. [Generally] Sensible, for the middle cla+ss and "consistency".

My thoughts:
Her experience in politics puts her at the top of the heap, atleast in terms of credibility. (it also however, works in the opposite direction.)
I actually agree with most of her platform and her having already seen a presidency first hand gives her a unique perspective,
Many senior democrats seem to support her which shows her dedication to the party. She is willing to change not unrelenting, A president as a whole needs to be responsive and ready for change, a president represents a country and its people, not themselves. (in short, changing in the direction of public opinion is a quality every president(ial candidate) needs to have.)

Cons: PMS (kidding... maybe.), Too polarizing, republicans ABHOR her.(not to mention some democrats.)

Possible Vice President: Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden

Highlights: Fresh Face. Strong opinions. Actually good at public speaking.

My thoughts:
He's a freshman senator with hardly any experience, and no experience in executive positions. But that might be a good thing, he's a fresh face who honestly wants to change America for the better.. and as I've read in other places "We better get him to change the party, before the party changes him."Truer words have never been spoken. His strong opinions, means he won't "flipflop", but his overall love for democracy (and the majority rules mentality) means he probably won't go against the public opinion.

It might be better for him to wait til 2012/16.

Cons: Obama is a weird one, some of his best qualities are also his major flaws. He might be too strong willed, and too inexperienced.

Next Blog post: Al Gore, Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, Joe Biden, and Michael Bloomberg, (what, what?!)

Those I do not want to win (why may come later.):

Mitt Romney, Rudy Guiliani (he's an evil, evil man.).

Hi my name is Dustin, and I have a confession to make...

I'm addicted to politics, i swear.
and indie music.
and techno.
and rock.
and ska.
and punk.
and probably lots of other things.

But, that's besides the point. i feel i've subjected you to my political rants for too long!

Therefore I am moving my political and generally non-game releated future blog entries
to the opera community. (Opera is also a great browser, i reccomend everyone use it.)
Under the name: OrangeBicycle

so ideas on where to put this blog in the mix, of course major life updates will be a given, but
should it focus on music? just games?

ideas!

when the other blog gets up and running i will of course link.
Since my old music blog at firedowndrop has been abandoned by me, this may be its replacement.

but in the true sense of my political obsession, we'll solve this with democracy! someone tell me what to do., hah.

EDIT: http://my.opera.com/OrangeBicycle/blog/

What Political Party Do Your Beliefs Put You In?
created with QuizFarm.com

Odd because i never really thought myself an anarchist, because i know it'll never work.

But, i do wish freedom, meant ... freedom. haha.

I've been seeing myself leaning more toward libertarian as time goes on.
the only thing i don't agree with on their platform is gun control...

thoughts?

Not a rant, i swear.

politically oriented? of course!

I really don't know how should win the candidacies.

Hillary actually impresses me more than i thought she would.
[Do we really want the drama that follows the Clinton's however?]
Obama, however, looks better and better, you'd think he'd be independent.

Rudy Guilliani is using 9/11 way too much., besides he's a democrat in republicans clothing.
John McCain i like, if we are going to stay in this war, he's the way to go. And he's got some pretty good views.

(i have such opposing viewpoints, if i met myself, i would probably hate me.)
But i'm also forced to ask, do i REALLY want a republican for another 4 years? I'm convinced america can only
deal with one party for so long, I believe every 8 years you need to switch up the party to "fix" whatever the other one did

That's just me i guess.

It's All my fault.

Hm, another political rant. should be short this time.

I like how the blame gets placed from one generation to the other. The current generation started a war they can't handle,
but to them (as always) its not their fault.

It's obviously the fault of the "young people" and the "younger generation" for not being ENTHUSIASTIC about fighting
in a war, that wasn't even their decision, oh but, we're going to be the one's paying for it, so its all our fault.

maybe, if people knew how to talk we wouldn't be in our current situation.

I love American culture, so don't get me wrong when i say this, we have a thing or five to learn from our european
counterparts, living in such close quarters you learn to talk things out wars aren't feasible forever, and they learned it
the hard way.  must we?

I say i love american culture because we're loud, we party, we live in excess, i love sitting down at a restaurant and getting
a full plate of food, and finishing it right there.
I love driving around. (This isn't to say i don't care about the environment, i do, and believe it or not, i think you can balance both.)

But i envy europe. Better education. (sometimes) more sensible leaders.

(and i like eating in europe too, it seems they make more of an event than america)
but nothing's perfect, i know. But they often have less of the blame game (I actually both love, and hate
european politics. awesome ideas, horribly implemented (some countries))

I'm sick and tired of our leaders, however, always brushing problems of today, and passing it on to the leaders of tomorrow.

 prime example, the environment:

We have enough money to fund two unwanted wars. But we don't have enough to fund programs of reforestation.

We have enough money to rebuild a country we destroyed. But we don't have enough money to subsidise companies,
and people, helping the environment, or researching new, renewable, cleaner, energy sources.

we have enough money to kill others, but we don't have enough money to educate those who wish to be educated.

but most of all, we have enough money to send people to die, but we don't have enough money to keep the people here, alive.

Sometimes war is needed, other times, it is everything but what you need.

And what happened to our f'n free speech?

End Rant.

We all need lessons on Accountability. We all need to go back to pre-school and learn A lot of times, violence only makes things worse.

Vote for Who?

Notice, Rant.

You know what i'm sick and tired of? Today's politictians. I refuse to throw a vote the way of today's politicians, (not that i can vote yet), Just yesterday i was watching television and along comes on a senators election commercial (common practice at this time), and it didn't make me want to vote for him, it made me say "I'm never voting for Rick Santorum, I don't care." Why you ask? Well, simple, he, like a lot of other politicians, Kerry, and of course Bush, included, don't know how to run for office without insulting. I believe it is the job of the person in a campaign not to put down the opponent, and get people not to vote for them, but to emphasize your positives to get people to vote for you. How is that so hard? You know what i hear when they insult, emphasizing other's negatives? That the person's who's commercial it is, has no noteworthy positives.

They're all so dissconnected from reality, war mongering dumbasses. Bush, for example, can't see that he causes more trouble than good, we haven't lessened the number of terrorists in Iraq, we've given them a center of debate to turn the tables, and possibly with all the security blunders, a future safe haven.

You know who i actually like? and i know the Brits will probably blast me for this, Blair. He's honestly not that bad. but he doesn't have his own ground. He sure is Bush's puppy dog, but if he could only stand up for himself re-enforcing his own views, because he's got some good ones, he genuinely cares about serious issues, terrorism, poverty, etc.

I look at the American administration and i just think, "I told You.", i remember when bush was running for office, i was but a young'n in 6th - 7th grade, but i still said, "Don't vote for him." I didn't like him, i didn't like the way he talked, and i didn't like his views. What kind of President says "we need torture!!!~~~131`2" because of our national security? It goes against this countries values.

The use of illegal practices and lying to your country is also wrong. So is just taking it and not saying anything. But, i'll say something. To anyone. Deal with it.

I think everyone should say something, if they don't like how its being done.

Hell, say something if you like it. The public, American especially, has become afraid to say anything about what its government has/is done/doing. why? is my generation lazy? or is their generation realizing its thier fault.

How are you all today?

That's right, i'm sexier than you, and i change tires.

So Yesterday was August Fourth 06

Which of course was WARPED TOUR '06 in my area ;)

hah, it was awesome, the day was awesome, the schwag was awesome, the bands were awesome, and the weather was awesome.

So we went to my friends the night before figured we get an early start, and we did, we got out of the house by 8:30am, a milestone that we were even up in time to leave at 8:30!

we're almost there, 30 minutes into our 45 minute trip, and, our friend forgot the tickets, "oh well" we say, "its alright" we say, "warped tour doesn't start till 12, and its only 9" we say. So in an effort to expedite our travels, and get back to where warped tour will be so we can eat breakfast there and then just go straight to the punk-rock-music-convention mix warped tour is, we're going 90+, then the car starts making funny noises "must be the road" we say, then... it gets worse... so we pull over. We were almost riding the rim of the tire. "<insert f word here>" we say.

So yes we attempted to change the tire, and there's pictures to prove it. we get the lugnuts, the hub cap, all off, but the tires stuck. We get a tow truck.. HE JUST HIT THE F'N TIRE FROM THE BACK WITH A WOODEN BRICK. $85 so, we're on the road again, we stop by one of our houses and get another car (completely making our staying over the other friends house useless),

So we stop at Mc Donalds and eat, by the time we actually got the tickets she forgot, and on our way 11:30.

So much for that Early start.

But , we still got there at 12:11, not too bad considering. and i still got my kick ass shirt, oh and my "non-smoking" emo hat. haha, great times.

[one] Shirt: hat: inside of hat:

Catharsis.

I never update this thing, i found myself looking through old posts, old blog entries etc.

I suppose, looking back on things isn't bad, but, looking forward is odd. I'm going to be a senior next year, a senior. maybe its a little catharsis looking back. but i often wonder what if.

I also happened to look at my entry about my legally being able to leave the country, and then when i went to europe. i want to go back, i want to go back. everything was so much better then. everyone was so much different then.
