[QUOTE="dmtaoist"]

The most common response to the MAIN question is: "If they can pass the physical requirements, I don't see a problem letting women becoming SEALs."

This is roughly 75% of what everyone believes should be the solution, verbatim. That sounds like a perfect solution, it really does. In fact, the main factor for prohibiting women from BUDS is just that. So why not let them have their chance? Tell you what; find me one, honestly find me one, and we can work from their.

OK, so they passed the physical part, which is incredible. Truly incredible. The guy I work with, ISSN Siple onboard the USS BATAAN, was capable of completing the daunting physical aspect... barely. He was in BUDS for over an ENTIRE MONTH. No one really knows what BUDS is truly like because half of it is extremely classified.

Physical requirements aside, the most common reason men drop out of BUDS is the fact that even all the potential AHNOLDs get broken down in to LITTLE GIRLY MEN. I'm talking about the amount of stress, fatigue, stress, degradation, getting pissed on, getting yelled at, and getting every negative feeling tossed at you... It's hard enough for women to deal with an RDC or Drill Instructor at Basic. Clearly the women can pass Boot Camp, but sending a female to BUDS would be emotional torture that would literally have to be remedied by heavy counseling and therapy. It's pure scientific fact. And I'm not talking about the same Ricky Bobby, "It's in the Geneva Convention...", Bible-belting, scientific fact. I'm saying that men and women's chemical make up are completely and totally different. You gals have estrogen, we have testosterone. Women rely on their emotions more than men, while the opposite sex thinks... let's say differently.

I restate my previous statement for all to learn. You can't just get tied up with the whole training, "Can they do it?" mentality. There's more to it. There's other reasons, although thats a big one.

The purely ironic thing is that I'm currently working on a "Navy Equal Opportuniy" brief right now that I'm giving to my shop. Perfect timing.

I'd like to change one of my previous statements:

That's about 80% of people's responses to this topic.

It's more than the physical test people!

I would highly suggest that before posting, please read my first post on the previous page. It's a bit of a read, but I'm hoping it will cut down on the "If they can meet the physical standards..." statements that seemed to be prevelant the whole discussion.

The women POW argument is also a good reason. Some of you may think that it's a BS excuse, but we do have a point. Just take a second to think about it.
