I guess we found the marketing department! Actually, I have never brought this up as this is my first real post. I would really love to feel heard about these issues, but what you said: Leave it alone / ignore it. Is the response I get from activision. I would love anyone in the know to tell me i'm off base, but ....... Glad to know that in essence you agree with me!!! thx
I love the design of this game. What idiot implemented the design. I don't have an issue with the single player mode, but wow. The multiplayer is filled with bugs, flaws and poor programming. I am a software engineer and spent most of my 25+ year career making the real deal for the military. so I have a little bit of knowledge to draw on. I would love to talk to Activision, and have tried, but I have no interest in talking to some pimple headed teenager who could care less. - Lets talk about the multiplayer lobby. - MATCHMAKING: The team composition is random or maybe based on connectivity. I rarely get in a game that is competitive. This ability would be so easy to program, but one can tell by the kdr's or previous scores of the players that it is not based on either one of these. The kdr (kill death ratio) is the only real measure of benefit to a team. A score may predict valuation, but a player who kills a lot and dies twice as much, doesn't do much good. - COUNTDOWN: Have you spent five minutes counting down the last ten seconds before a match starts. Only to be reset when one player is added. WHY! The matchmaking is going to suck anyway. Just finish the countdown. - CONTINUITY: Why am I not able to get into a lobby that has a lifespan for more than 2 matches? The mechanism for building and maintaining a stable lobby is HORRENDOUS. This is SOOOO frustrating i can hardly articulate. It is hard enough to find a group of people that don't flashbang or spew racist hatred. When I do, I would like to enjoy it and finish the experience myself. But I am consistently floating between lobbies that have a self life of maybe ten minutes. BTW: My network is good. Consistently 37 ms ping response and 75 Mbps bandwidth . It would be really nice if Activision would have provided dedicated servers to manage the connectivity, but they wouldn't want to cut into to the BILLION dollar profit they are enjoying. Hire a real engineer or hold a design/implementation review! - BUGS: I often have found myself in a dead lobby. Matches stopped mid-battle with no re-host attempted. FRIENDLY FIRE: I am as pissed as the next guy when your own player kills you. When it's intentional it really sucks! But what logic is used to kick a player? Sometimes you are kicked when someone runs next to a bad guy and crosses your equipment (betty or claymore). Sometimes it occurs after the first time. Maybe the second time. Definitely the third time. What is the algorithm here? I would love to make sense out of this one!!! When you are kicked this counts as abandoning your game and is used for a punitive system for probation on your account. - PROBATION: I play this game as it should be played. I NEVER kill someone intentionally and I don't leave early, but I have been put on probation. It happened when I threw a grenade into a room when a teammate entered in though another door. I don't get kick often, but sometimes you shoot at a enemy and your teammate is on the other side of the wall and is killed. I was told by an Activision drone that you have to score many penalties to be banned. The problem was this: I was having many issues getting into core team deathmatch and then staying in the lobby without losing the connection. I believe that I am penalized whenever the lobby crashes and I lose a connection. Either way, Activision has no recourse, or so they say, to reset the counter when put on probation. So it boils down to this: They provide crappy software that maintains a count of how many times it has failed and then puts you on probation when it has failed long enough! Let's build a punitive system and have no way to right a wrong!! GO Activision!!! Lets talk about scoring. LAG: This is a huge issue! Everyone sees the battlefield as it was about a half second (or more) ago. Without having a dedicated server inconsistent lag between players allows for me to be killed by someone I haven't even seen yet. They can be right in front of me and I watch them appear after I am pronounced dead. This is made worse, I am told, by lag switches. These are not used often as they are easy to notice and report and can only be used by the host. DAMAGE: The difference in damage from each weapon within a weapon category are negligible. The method of scoring through a wall is wrong. I can shoot a player across the map through a wall two inches away from my gun. ?huh? The damage is not degraded at all. It's as if I shot him directly. ACCURACY: The scoring of close up encounters is just random. I can miss completely and be awarded a kill. It happens all the time. - - CONCLUSION: Like I said the design is really cool. Basically inherited from black ops 1. The amount of stuff here is overkill though. The calling cards, emblems and camo's have really taken away from the franchises ability to deliver the core of the program bug free and implemented correctly.
