Well I read in another thread that if I hook it up with the red and white cables I'll just get stereo sound throught all the speakers.

Okay I've looked everywhere for a solution to this and I can't find one.

My ps3 is hooked up to my hdtv via component cables. I have a Sony DAV-SB100 surround sound system with a built in dvd player and I get surround sound just fine on movies. Now everyone I've asked has told me that to get surround sound for your ps3 you have to hook it up to the surround sound system (which would be my dvd player) with an optical cable. The problem is I looked on the back of my dvd player and there is nowhere to connect the optical cable. Just look at the specs here http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=DAV-SB100&productsku=DAVSB100.CEK&site=odw_en_GB&pageType=TechnicalSpecs&imageType=Main&category=HCS+Surround+Kit+%26+DVD+Player#tab

I would really appreciate any help on this subject and I also have this annoying crackling that happens whenever the volume goes a little high and it only happens for the ps3. I've tried messing around with some of the sound options but I really don't know much about it.

Plus you don't HAVE to use home every time you want to play online, and the idea of inviting your clan back to your space to discuss strategies and show them some of your videos and other media sounds cool.

Yeah a price drop in 2008 probably would make the most sense, especially if they timed it to happen at around the same time as when LBP launches.

My rule for buying consoles has always been to wait for the first price drop because by then they usually have more good games and all the bugs are sorted out, but after seeing Little Big Planet and Home its getting harder to wait. Do you think that the decision to cut the emotion engine will result in an earlier price drop?
