I use thumbs for L1/R1, and thumbs for L2/R2. left/right thumbs on left stick, right thumbs on the face buttons. The rest of thumbs are used to hold controller in an awkward position. Sometimes I have to use my big toe to control direction since 2 of the thumbs on my right hand would beat up my left thumb holding the stick for being stupid... it's sad i know.
