@lexxluger: As you might have seen in subsequent post I mentioned a 60 to 40 ratio in favor of the S, though with what we have seen recently it might be unrealistic. The fact is, the S wasn`t in demand at all in past months so assigning it the lion share of xbox buyers "desires" in spite of the launch of the much-coveted Xbox one X, it`s, well, unrealistic at best.

Same goes for PS4 pro, demand`s faltering and it`s clearly not convincing new PS4 buyers to choose it instead of the regular (and extremely successful) Slim model. "My" guess is that in Xbox camp at least half the systems sold were Xbox One X (due also to the initial launch craze of course) while in Sony`s camp 80 to 90% were slim models. If these ratios are right my prediction of MS receiving more $$$ in the period would be correct.

Again I don`t get anything if it`s correct, could be wrong too as far I`m concerned, but I believe it`s reasonable and we will find out soon anyway.

P.S.

Thanks for the "kid" (at my age it`s nice to hear it) ;)

xantufrog: as mentioned no numbers, but out of curiosity I`ve been checking the game best sellers charts since the X launch and it is Always outranking the S by a massive margin. Alas even if 40% of HW sales would be X, MS revenues on Hardware would still be more than Sony (40% at $500 and 60% at around the same prices, would give you those figures).

It`s just a guesstimate, certainly not unreasonable, we`ll see soon...

@biack_goku: that is one way to see it sure, another is that Sony was distantiating itself from the competition Already and doing so at an infinitely faster pace in the past, with nobody even close in sales numbers. The only change that really happened is that they got similar numbers to the competition this time around and probably less revenue in $$$ figures. It is certainly something new and not necessarily devastating news for the competition (which was certainly in worse shape before, that cannot be argued).

Xantufrog: the S is not in demand according to Amazon statistics (and contrary to Microsoft `s own expectations). In other words the X its massively outselling the S there, though the exact ratio is unknown at the moment. We`ll see soon I guess (aren`t real NPD numbers poised to be out next week?)

Mmmmhhh doesn`t seem that rosey for Sony to me. Once noted that Xbox One X is just a mid gen refresh and not a New console generation, just the price difference ($500 VS $200) and the fact Xbox One X wasn`t part of Black Friday (no special offers/no discounts whatsoever) should have given Sony a 2 to 1 ratio at the very Least, instead what they got? Probably around 1.450.000 VS 1.5M? I wouldn`t be jumping on chairs if I was them... The numbers also tell that revenues were massively in favor of Microsoft, selling almost the same numbers of a $500 console compared to a $199 one. It simply means half number of banknotes left people`s wallets headed for Sony`s bank account (and that twice as much left people wallets towards Microsoft`s). If these are numbers to celebrate for Sony we should ponder who`s being delusional...
