KOTOR: Kashykk

Yesterday I finally had some time to play some KOTOR again - a game that you will need to take your time for.

I landed on Kashykk with my party aboard the Ebon Hawk and was amazed by the environment - for a game as old as this one - and an RPG at that it does have nice graphics. I liked the conflict between Czerka Corp and the Wookies going on in the background, with some mixed in family troubles between Zaalbar and his brother Chuundar.

I myself am going for a light sided Jedi in my first run through, which quite simply put is very rewarding because it is far more challenging than being a dark Jedi. You will often have to give up items, credits or time to stay on the light side. I enjoyed the background stories of my party members becoming more and more entangling - especially hitting on Bastila is quite fun - yes, flirting is allowed in the star wars galaxy ;-)

What I have to say about this RPG is that it has almost no technical flaws at all ... if I already pick up an item before I receive the quest, I instantly have the option to solve the quest once I talk to the questgiver. If I complete a big quest that rules out uncompleted subquests, the subquests are automatically removed from my PDA ... basically data and information management is very, very well done in KOTOR.

After bringing Zaalbars father Freyyr back to power, ridding of Chuundar and his evil Czerka corp allies and basically doing good all over the planet I will now move on to Tatooine, one of the coolest planets in SW. Let's see what awaits me there...

KOTOR and STALKER

Due to 2 parties this weekend I used the off-time to regenerate and what better way is there than playing some decent computer games? ;)

This weekend I continued my starting addiction to Lucas Arts awesome RPG SW:KOTOR, where my character Uriel Ventris completed his Jedi training on Dantooine. This is an awesome turning point after the rather boring beginning of the game. Now that my party aboard the Ebon Hawk is really big and I can choose from a large variety of people I mostly enjoy playing as a Jedi only party (Juhani, Bastila) - crushing enemies with force powers and chopping them up with light sabers - what I find extraordinarily fun is using two light sabers at the same time. My next goal is seeking for the other pieces of the map to the Star Forge.BTW if you don't have this game and like RPGs - get it! :D

I also tried out STALKER and was amazed by the size and detail the game had - I spent my first hours wandering around and taking dozens of screenshots of every brick building ;)

Without wanting anything by it I was attacked by mutants, fled and ran into a group of soldiers who then started attacking me aswell. After a lot of confusion, med packs and running away I managed to get rid of them and was happy to grab some AKs and other interesting equipment. Without knowing it I started a small war between the army and the village Cordon ... until now we have been able to beat back the military numerous times. This might help beginners in getting better weapons quicker - attack the soldiers and lure them into the wildlife - with some luck they'll be attacked by dogs and you will have to deal with less enemies in total. After having equipped myself with better weapons and stuff I headed out to complete the first quest and rescue Nimble from the bandits. What I enjoyed most was the clever AI and the fellow STALKERS fighting along with me. During the fight I climbed one of the buildings and took in the surroundings - an awesome sight - even more so with the weather change from sunshine to thunderstorm. Also a great idea to get a high vantage point before attacking or fighting enemies! After finishing the first few quests I think I will now cross the rail bridge and dwell further into the zone.

That's it - first blog entry done - more to follow ;)
