alot of games so far havent really been next gen, besides the visuals we still done the things we've been doing for years. LittleBigPlanet is a truly unique game that I am very much looking forward to. Also Infamous looks awesome(from the limited amount we've seen)They appear to be doing alot of cool new things.Shinedown220

Oh yeah I will admit that I am fairly excited about LittleBigPlanet.... I still have the original trailer on my PS3 and play it every now and then just for a pick me up (laugh).

Alright, here goes again apparently my last topic was a "system wars" topic although it wasn't supposed to be one so we'll try starting one again and hope I can avoid "complaints".

Anywho, so I was wondering how many people have played a next-gen game on their PS3 (there does that satisfy the allowed to post on this forum requs) and thought.... hmm that wasn't really next gen...

My example is Marvel Ulimate Alliance. I liked that game, but it didn't really strike me as next-gen. Sure it had prettier graphics, cleaner lines, but I kept wondering if I was actually playing my PS3. On a second note what do you guys think should be the defining characteristics of a "next-gen" PS3 game? I personally think warhawk and resistance capture a good "next-gen" feel with an immersive feel, responsive controls, and those little touches that just weren't possible on my PS2.

Cheers

Hmm, interesting point. You are right that from a business/sales standpoint it is unfortunate that games that would sell well and have a good user following aren't released on the PS3. So in that context I am not happy it wasn't released, but from a personal standpoint I am glad that I wasn't the one who purchased it (laugh).

It's been awhile since I started a topic and recently I had a discussion with a friend of mine while we played some Bioshock on his 360. He asked if I was upset that Bioshock wasn't being released on the PS3 and it took me a moment to answer. My final answer was no. Mind you I have played through a good amount of the game and here is why I said no.

1) If it had been released on the PS3 I would have purchased it for the full glorious $60 because I am a huge fan of system shock

2) After the first few hours I would have become slightly frustrated with the controls (what can I say I am a mouse and keyboard man), mildly intrigued by the plotline and atmosphere, creeped out by the various enemies, somewhat impressed with the graphics, and a little bored by the repetition of actions I was taking.

3) After the first few days I would have become extremely bored by the repetitive nature of the game (I can only hack so much!!!) and realized that though it is a competent and enjoyable game it lacks replayability and I would have felt a little robbed and wanted my $60 back (laugh).

Anyhow the point of this post is to inquire if anyone else feels the same about any other game. You managed to play it somewhere else and you are happy you never bought it because they didn't offer it on your system (i.e. PS3). I'll try to think of others (grin).

Ooh, long post... Sorry

Cheers

It seems kind of pointless to post now on the 62nd page of this forum and I am certain someone has already pointed this our, but hey that is the fun of killing time when I should be doing something more useful.

While I agree that the GS review may seem a little harsh to many PS3 owners and I have noticed a downward trend in the PS3 scores and it is a little odd that games like Zelda (same gameplay for the past umpteen years, don't get me wrong I love the series), every sports game known to mankind (do they actually change from season to season ? ), and FPS (seriously come on they are the exact same game with new graphics and enemies) don't get nailed for repetition to the same extent it is important to maintain some perspective.

The reviewer for RC:TOD consistently rates games comparatively low (take a look at the past reviews) and platformers don't appear to be the reviewers cup of tea. So the only real question is why did GS choose to have him review it? Maybe the other reviewers felt they would be biased b/c of their love for the series, or maybe they are all too busy playing Halo . Still I have always loved the RC series as does my wife and personally I feel this is a pinnacle in Insomniacs gaming designs and I hope the review doesn't turn newcomers off of an excellent series, but hey that is what reviewers do... help us figure out where the buck falls .

Cheers

Good ending - save them all

Bad ending - harvest them all

Evil ending - kill them all (no harvest or save) Pretty similar to bad ending

if u read correctly, an 8.6 is GREAT. 9-9.5 are SUBERB meaning that the game blew you away. was liberty city stories good enough to be superb? im surprised that LCS got an 8.6, i was expecting more along 7.5-8. even some games in the 6s are worth getting after the price drops. i have never rated a game a 10 cause i havent played a game that was PERFECT. quiksilver9774

Completely unrelated and this is totally based on your preference in games, but play Chrono Cross and Vagrant Story, only two games I have ever considered "perfect"

Hmm, let's see.... the loss of multiple "exclusives", the loss of an entire franchise, some BS about multiplatform (read: unless you own a PS3), but hey at least we get a second rate FPS (fantastic there are so few of those around) and capcom tries to squeeze more money out of a dead fighting franchise. Wow, be still my beating heart.

Let's see if I can list the PS2 games I have played, are playing, or will play on my PS3....

FFXII, Champions of Norrath, Bully, Persona 3, Disgaea 2, Odin Sphere, Rogue Galaxy, Valkyrie Profile Slimeria, Grim grimoire, God Hand... Long story short I wouldn't have bought the PS3 without it being backwards compatible, but then again that is just me.

Cheers

I would have to emulate the suggestion of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and make mention that I enjoyed it the most when I wasn't following the story missions, the world truly breathes around you.

Some other games outside of the FPS realm that keep with the spirit of DEUS EX (that whole, hah told you that you could merge two different gaming genres succesfully spirit) are Planescape Torment, Baldurs Gate Series, and Fallout Series (tactical RPG). Also in that spirit the recent UFO games, though rough in their presentation can be real gems.

I hesitate to recommend BIOSHOCK as I have found it wanting compared to System Shock 2, but games that have a more immersive flair than the aforementioned isometric RPG's are Indigo Prophecy, Dark Messiah of M&M (have to be forgiving of its shortcomings, but can be fairly enjoyable), and if you are a fan of open ended sprawling try out Morrowind - though Oblivion may have better graphics and more streamlined gameplay Morrowind is massive with all of the user created additions and add-ons, and it is fairly inexpensive.

But last but certainly not least, if you are willing to look way back into the gaming golden age, some of my favorites are Eye of the Beholder 1-3, Might and Magic 4,5,6... 7 is ok. Wow, sorry for the long post.

Cheers
