I was just wondering if there was anyone that works or is involved in the gaming industry that could point me in the right direction. I'm looking to pursue an education in Game Design and would like to know what the most reputitable schools are. We are constantly bombarded by tech school commercials on the television but I have heard alot of bad things about them. I hearthe education at places like DeVry and ITT Tech, among others, is sub-par and that degrees from these institutions are not taken seriously from the industry. Any help would be appreciated. Are these stories false or are there other colleges or even universites in the states that have developed a good game design curriculum? I would just like to know from someone that is familiar with the industry and the education required to pursue a career within it.

Thanks alot

Dave

MMOs are the exception apparently, but I'd like to see it for all games and developers. I was talking about the MS company line at the time of launch, the launch core users are the ones that may cry shenanigans if MS allowed widespread genre HDD games. My actual feeling is that MS should do whats best regardless of HDD-less users. I really wanted this thread to be about whether or not everyone feels it's necessary to expand into the HDD games. Even a simple agree or disagree would be great from everyone who reads this thread. I guess I just made the mistake of stating one possible solution to the whole core problem. I mean if MS started to see that most 360 owners with or without hard-drives were excited about HDD games, not just on this forum but accross many, including their own site, don't you think that they may proceed with HDD across all games, MMO or not. If that wasn't a possiblity what the hell is the point of forums anyway, flamewars?

In my opinion, its not the same thing as getting a free pc upgrade and core users didn't exactly know what they were getting into since Microsoft reps stated that no HDD-required games would ever be developed, now to go back on it and make these games they might feel they have to appease these people with a free or really cheap hard-drive. I guess I don't really care if they do this or not, I was just throwing one idea out there. My point is that games that utilize the hard-drive would be a giant step forward for MS and I might feel cheated that my games aren't as good as they could of been just because 1 in 5 360 owners, or even less now that some core users may have already purchased a harddrive, have no HDD and a promise from MS not to require them. I just think this is one topic that should be discussed more and always be near the top of 360 forum sites. I wanted to put it out there so that maybe more 360 users might research this and see what it means to them. If enough word gets out there and MS comes across alot of feedback, maybe not here from my thread, but somewhere, they might rethink this issue and the Core system itself. I just wanted to hear whether or not people would be excited for the 360 to evolve and maybe even get some feedback from Core users themselves to see if they would be willing to buy a hard-drive in order to play better games or if they demand that MS do something like what had suggested. Thats all. And sorry I amnew to this particular forum, it was my first post.

HDD-required games should happen and you better make them happen. 20% of the 360 market will have to spring for a hardrive, too bad. Although I think with a core console serial number and the purchase ofa HDD-required game, a core user should be able to get a considerable discount on a 20 gig drive, either that or a free one, I mean who's gonna buy a 20 gig now anyway, they will collect dust on store shelves. Get rid of them and get rid of the core once and for all, problem solved! That will make devs even happier to create games on 360 and make sureyou stay ahead of ah, those other guys.Forget the HD-DVD games people, lets just get HDD-required games and that will keep 360 on top until the next gen.

MICROSOFT, YOU NEED TO READ THIS POST!!!!

P.S. Wasn't that the whole point of the Core system, so that you enjoy part of the 360 experience when your broke and thanupgrade it later?
