No, I don't want to know how to cheat...I was just playing and noticed some oddities, and wondered if it is even possible...it would certainly explain what was happening...

Playing Battlefront Renegade Squadron, I join an online game, get into the fight and it's over in about 15 seconds. Odd, i think, maybe I joined a game just as it was ending. Change maps, same thing happens...over in less than 30 seconds. Hm, strange. New map, and this time I notice a crazy rocket barrage hitting the spawning area and the same guy's name keeps popping up, indicating kills. All the victory points get taken, and game over. I check the score at the end, and the guy has, like, 30 kills, no deaths. I tried a few more games, and it's the same thing...crazy rocket barrage, points get taken over nearly immediately, game over, the guy is 20-0, 25-0, 15-0...over and over.

So WTF...being "good" is one thing...being able to conquer the whole map and wipe everyone else out in 30 seconds is something different. So my question is, is the PSP online multiplayer susceptible to cheating? Is there anything one can do about it? Is Sony attempting to do anything about it?

Thanks.

I think it's a pretty straight forward equation...if 1200 gives you X hours of gameplay, the 1800 will gives you X+1/3X. So, for simplicity, if the 1200 gives you 2 hours, the 1800 will give you 3 hours. And the 2200 will give you something like 3.75 or whatever. I could be wrong, though, either in my assumptions regarding the formula or in my actual math.

Anyway, the Logitech hardcase for the 2000, which also fits the 3000, is built to accomodate the 2200 battery. With that being the case, you'd never notice the extra size, as it all fits inside the case.

My Grandpa has, he says that technology is going to kill social life when a study has shown internet interaction is just as just as good for social growth.Muffinlybliss

lol, I don't know about that...I play a lot of online games, but when I go to my RL jiu jitsu class, they generally frown on teabagging opponents that you've beaten...

I spent hours and hours here on Gamespot looking over reviews before making my initial game purchases for my new 3000. I'm totally new to PSP gaming, so even the older games are "new" to me. I have several goodly sized Gamestops, as well as an independent gaming store, in my area, so I had a pretty good selection to choose from. The buy 2 get 1 free sale Gamestop had after Christmas helped.

So here's what I got...all under $18 except for Valkyrie Profile, which was $25:

GTA: Vice City Stories - both GTA games got good reviews, but Vice City Stories seems a bit more polished. I've certainly not been disappointed. After finishing GTA4 recently, this is a pretty good follow up for me.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection - Wow, awesome. It just about perfect in every way. If you are a Tekken fan, that is. And I am. It was the one game I missed when I gave up my Sony consoles many years ago for Halo on the XBox. Now I have my Tekken back, so I am happy.

MGS Portal Ops Plus - Was never a MGS fan, to be honest, but it got excellent reviews, and I know the series has been exceedingly strong for Sony over the years, so I picked it up. Have only spent a little time with it, but I can tell it's going to be a huge time waster for me next year when I'm deployed.

Battlefront Renegade Squadron - one of my favorite games of all time on the XBox, and this is a pretty good version of it, considering the limitations of the handheld medium. The online multiplayer is great, also. Just be sure you get the Renegade Squadron and not the the earlier Battlefront.

Capcom Collection Reloaded - ok, I'm old...I remember playing all these games in the arcade...this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you grew up in the arcades of the early to mid 90's, you're going to experience a lot of deja vu. And I finally managed to beat Knights of the Round and 1943...games that got the best of me, regardless of how many quarters I dumped into them...there is another one with different games, so make sure you get the right one if you are interested in this game...I picked up the right box, but the girl behind the counter gave me the wrong UMD, so I had to go back and get the right one.

Valkyrie Profile - I'm a big RPG fan, and from all my research, this is the one must have RPG for the PSP. Apparently, it's a remake of a much beloved PS1 game, which is exceedingly rare. The PSP version is only slightly less rare, evidently, but I managed to get lucky and score a copy. Have only spent a little time with it, but so far, it's pretty cool. Again, going to be a huge time sink for me in Iraq, I hope.

So far, I have spent the more time with the Capcom Collection, Tekken, Battlefront, and Vice City Stories...the other two are a little deeper and, I think, are going to demand much more than a 10 minute play session...a year in Iraq should provide plenty of opportunities for that, however.

Anyway, I hope this gives you some ideas. I tried to get a good variety of games...I have a shooter, fighter, RPG, action, classic arcade, etc, and, I believe, I chose the best examples of each genre available in the PSP library. YMMV.

I got a 3000 for Christmas, also, and am very pleased.

First thing I got was a bunch of games. Gamestop had buy 2 get 1 free, so I got 6 games from them. They also had new UMD movies for $5, so I picked up a few of those, also. Then I did a bunch of research and found that the Logitech polycarbonate case for the 2000 seemed to be the way to go; for $15, it is pretty awesome. And yeah, the ability to customize the cover is a nice little bonus. Also, I just have medium sized hands, but playing the PSP by itself did get my hands a little cramped, so the extra girth you get from playing the PSP while in the case really helps. I also got a used 1gig from Gamestop for $18, but will probably get a much larger one for movies and music or whatever before I deploy next year. Picked up a screensaver 2 pack w/ microfiber cleaning cloth from Wal-Mart for less than $7...kinda jacked up the application of the protector, but when I'm playing, it's hardly noticible, and I'd rather have a jacked up screen protector than a jacked up screen. Last thing I got was a car charger...probably paid more than I should have...$20 at gamestop...but it also has a wall adapter and will also charge my wife's DS, so I guess it was worth it. With the Logitech case and screen protector, it feels like I have about as high a level of protection as one can have.

Next on the list is one of those gamestop 8 UMD cases...can't beat it for $10. After that, I don't know...maybe a camera for using Skype. Definitely larger memory card. Maybe a larger battery...the Logitech case can accomodate the extra size, so that's also a bonus. Aside from that, i think it's just more games and movies, if I can pick them up for $5-10.

Let me first say that I never owned a 1000 or 2000, although I did play the 1000 a little bit. I just got a 3000 and a bunch of games and movies for Christmas (I officially have the best wife ever, in case anyone was wondering), and I have to say that the gaming experience is significantly better on the 3000 than on the 1000s that I have played. The PSP and Logitech case is damn near smaller and lighter the 1000 by itself. The built in mic is genius, and I plan on using the hell out of Skype when I'm deployed next year...this way, I just need to pick up the PSP and get connected, no need to hassle with an external mic.

All in all, I'm loving this thing, but as I said, I never actually owned either of the previous versions, so take my opinion with a goodly portion of salt.
