All,

I wanted to buy " Sam and Max Season 1" for Mrs. Duppie. I read reviews that it installs Securom DRM in the retail version, but not in the Steam version. Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks, Duppie

P.S. Before anyone suggest I am advocating illegal downloading, let me be clear. I am not! But I have a distaste for for software that installs itselfwithout my acceptance. I will avoid products with Securom DRM whenever I can.

All, thanks for your replies.

I gather I have two choices:

1. Stay with my current PSU and buy a midrange card. Pro: cheap

2. Buy a new PSU and go with a higherend card. Pro: Fast

Maybe it's time to talk to Mrs. Duppie

Thanks again

Video card and the processor are crucial. Get the Ati hd 4850, it works with pci express 16 1.0 and 2.0. Your powersupply should be fine. Yes, it is an important investment, you can max pretty much every game. Here is a good hd 4850

it is a dell sot the powersupply is horrid so it might not run a 4850

Thanks for your quick responses. I believe that clears the question on upgrading from an interface perspective

The power supply is a standard Dell power supply which, I believe, is 375 Watt. I read up on replacing a power supply and it appears less complicated than expected. Somehow I expected there would be soldering involved

Does any of you guys know whether I can replace my current PSU with an off the shelf beefier one? I read somewhere that brand name manufacturers, like Dell, use their own, non-standard, power supplies?

Again, thanks for any advice you may have

Hello All,

I do have a Dell XPS 410, dual core, 2 GB, and a GeForce 7900 GS. It's about 18 months old.

I want to upgrade the gaming experience of this PC

I have a few questions:

1. Is upgrading my video card a good idea? Or should I spend my money on other things, like more memory?

2. What kind of video card upgrade can I get interface wise? When I look at the properties for the card it says it's PCI Express. Does that mean that the later standards (like PCI-E 2.0 x16) will work, or are there limitations.

 3. Given that I don't want to upgrade my power supply (i am not *that* technically inclined) are there limitations on the cards that I can run?

I appreciate any advice you may have
