On another note, isn't this the same guy who said that the Wii was a gimmick that would only last 2-3 years? There was a poll on gamespot about somebody from sega saying something to that effect.

gaminggeek

I think that was the other sega guy, Scott Steinburg? But don't quote me on that. :P

Oh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up. ^^ Sorry if it sounded like I just repeated your post. Your reply wasn't there when I started to write my reply.

That is such a cop out. The Wii and it's wand controller are the only things that can inspire creativity in games? Give me a break. I hate to say it, but there are so many creative things that can be done besides being dictated by hardware. Yes, the Wii is totally different than the other two platforms, but developers shouldn't think their creativity is a dependency of the hardware. The sad thing that he doesn't seem to realize is that the Wii and its concept is new now. Once that well has been tapped long enough, then the new piece of innovative hardware will have to be sought out. Once that point has been reached, by definition, creativity will no longer apply.

If anything, I would like to see the hardware fail to meet the level of creativity the developer has in mind. The developers should be pushing the envelope and the boundaries to motivate the console manufactures to move past their consoles physical limitations. But that seems to be wishful thinking.

It's not about the Wii and its wand controller. It's about the Wii and its lower development costs.

A Wii game = $5 million

A PS3/360 game = $15 million

A creative/new idea is one that a consumer is unfamiliar with, and is therefore a risky venture. Now, if you were a company, which risk would you take? A potential failure that costs five, or fifteen million?

On another note, isn't this the same guy who said that the Wii was a gimmick that would only last 2-3 years? There was a poll on gamespot about somebody from sega saying something to that effect.

This probably won't help but when I was six, I remember playing Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. Maybe you should get a Wii?

i was hoping for a non-online store... i don't have access to a credit card.

has anybody been to this 'dungeon crawl'?

alexgangur

whats dungeon crawl? you dont have access to a credit card? what about a friend or your parents, just give em $45 and borrow their credit card. tell em its a one off thing... i dont THINK you can buy the wii points cards yet, and if so, probably at EB games

Eb has the exclusive right to sell Wii Points cards in Australia, for some stupid reason.

It's a store in the city, and they also have a shop on ebay. Their prices are a bit hefty (online, never been to the actual store). No way a gamecube game should cost $70+.

About Wii Points, I could've sworn that I saw some on sale at Toys 'R' Us at Highpoint. Did nobody else see this? They also sell Wii Play with Remote for $65, and just the Remote for $70. Odd.

About the credit card thing, my parents are technophobes and if I asked, they would just tell me that they wouldn't want to get their money stolen, or something.

-melbourne (not melbourne, but close enough, sort of).

-since may

-wii play, wii sports, smooth moves, zelda

-yes (via wireless router)

-smooth moves, so far

-mario strikers, no more heroes, fifa 08 (if it's any good), rockstar games presents table tennis...

plus a bunch of gamecube games i need to catch up on

-nope (except it takes a really long time to get into shop)

-they've already been posted.

by the way, does anybody know any good game stores around melbourne? i'm desperately looking for a gamecube controller and a decent stock of gamecube games.

Polar White. It has to match the Wii, so I wouldn't buy an Onyx DS Lite even if it were the only ones available on the shelves. Same goes with my PSP/PS3.rockstar_88

Ha, the same with me. The DS matching my Wii part. Not the psp/ps3 thing... I'm poor.

I'd also like to add the myth that the Wii is 'last gen'. Though it's specs may be comparable to that of last generation's systems, it is the home console that Nintendo released after the GameCube. The GameCube is part of the previous generation (the sixth generation) of consoles, along with the Xbox and PlayStation 2, making the Wii part of this generation (the seventh generation) of consoles. Its graphical capabilities are irrelevant to what generation it is are part of.

This might be more helpful.

ps. i think maltesers are much better than skittles. hm, they're all made by the same company so i guess they win in the end.
