My sit down and write off the top of my head (with no proof read) rant

It's now 2007, and so much has changed in the world of gaming since my father brought home my first system, the Magnavox Oddessy. It was big and yellow , and was about as much fun as a painful wiping session. As I grew older and the first nes, then the snes came out, I was in love.I was different though. I didn't enjoy side-scrolling shooters like a lot of my friends were into. I enjoyed Zelda and Mario, of coarse, but I also loved my own little private, endless gaming sessions with Solstice, and Equinox. My friend, who is an artist (who now paints for TSR and MTG) use to try and try to get me into a game called Final Fantasy. He loved it, I hated it. We were best friends, how could this be? How could my friend, who was like a brother to me, love something that I hated so much? Well, the way he described it to me was that the gaming format of 8 and 16 bit was just TOO primitive for what FF really was trying to do, and if we were alive to see the day when games when either looking like cartoons or live action that the turn based fighting sequences would be a thing of the past. ookaay, . . I'll buy that, makes perfect sense to me. I mean FF was a lot like the games I loved except for those painful, cheesy, annoying fight (if you can call it that) sequences. As time went by, the change that the gaming industry went through was huge. Back in the day it was Nintendo and Sega. That's it. Then sony came along to play with Nintendo and they said NO. Big mistake. Anyway, I never thought in a million years that Nintendo would take a back seat to anyone, let alone Sony. With the arrival of N64 and the Playstation and PS2, the dreamcast , xbox and now finally the big 3, the xbox360, the PS3 and the Wii. All of this new technology brought a new way of gaming and combined some of my favorite elements into gaming, namely sci-fi and horror. No, I'm not talking about the side-scrolling alien games from the Sega Genesis, . . . "Game over man" . I'm talking "Alone in the Dark" "Resident Evil" "Doom" 3D gaming combined with the exploration and blood and guts. This has really past my wildest expectations I had when I was a kid of what gaming would be like in 20 years. I look at games now and sometimes I have to pinch myself. This is SICK. If I would of had consoles like the ones that are out now when I was a kid, I would of amounted to NOTHING. I have to watch now as an adult how much I play my games. Games. Holy crap. I never thought that I would be playing games at my age. But I do, and I love them. I even love a lot of those turn based games I hated as a kid. People change, tastes change, but one thing has stayed constant through out, my love for the industry. Now,will I be playing games in a nursing home some day? Probably. Wow, when did I turn into that creepy old guy that's just a little too old to be hanging in the club? God help me, and God let there be Next gen consoles in Heaven.;)
