Okay, to get this out there HD movies are rated as higher and are higher quality than Blu-ray movies (atleast for now). I know this because I used to be a TV salesman and I would be required to look up dozens of reviews on both formats. Also, hd-dvd is much more affordable for many people. One thing that you should keep in mind is that every format that sony has brought to the market has ultimately failed, most notably hi-8 and a few other formats, just look it up on wikipedia.
Personally, I believe that Blu-ray and Hd-dvd will co-exist with each other as players that are capable of playing both formats have already released. If I were to choose in getting a high definition player I would definately go with an HD-dvd player for its superior quality and for its price.
Let me tell you something, I have almost everygame there is for the 360 (excluding sports games) and there are few games that have amazed me as much as Forza Motorsport 2. I am usually not much of a racing game fan but Forza Motorsport 2, if you have any interest in racing at all, will AMAZE you and that's a promise. Also make sure to get bioshock when it comes out, it will be exemplary!
