starting anew
by eatsometofu on Comments
well, its been more than a year since I sold my xbox and ps2 systems and all the games. and i haven't played much games since then. and i don't even know if I'll ever play as much as I did when I had those systems. but as the launch date of Halo 3 draws ever closer, I can't help but think what it would be like to be back playing Halo again. those were some of the best times I had.
only drawback is that I don't have the xbox360 system yet. and I certainly can't afford it right now. but maybe someday soon.
so starting anew, I have reset my games collection to reflect what I currently own, which is practically nothing. but it is time to start again.
avatar: the last airbender

after two seasons, i just discovered "avatar: the last airbender." a great show that i somehow hadn't heard of until a week ago. however, i managed to watch both the seasons in just 3 days of marathon viewing. and i couldn't stop. i wanted more, episode after episode. very engaging story, great characters, great anime animation, voice acting. pretty much everything was spot on as far as entertainment goes. a great great show. can't wait for season 3 to begin. i'm counting days now. :D
the craptacular Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
by eatsometofu on Comments
the gittery combat animations, audio bugs and bad music in general, the repetitive level designs, irregular save points have all led me to incredible frustrations. not that any part of the game is hard or anything. it's just one crappy game design on top of another that seems to lead to frustrating exercise in trial and error, back tracking, and repetitive combat action. shouldn't these types of game designs be banned already. trial and error is an outdated way of playing games. there's a better way to play video games and this isn't it. back tracking!? WTF? somebody didn't want to create new level designs with more diverse gameplay. considering a PoP game has be shat out every year or so. my expectations were high and they were deservedly so considering Sands of Time. i haven't played Two Thrones yet but i have seen it being played and it doesn't seem any better. ninja gaiden and god of war. two games that are cut above any PoP game with solid action and diverse set of combat moves. no more craptacular games. please.
Resident Evil 4

Finally the game is in my hands and I started playing it. I couldn't answer why I hadn't got the game already. The first chapter had some of the most amazing action that I've ever played. The horror aspect might not be up par to the Silent Hill series but the shooting and action is definitely uncomparable to anything else that has even been seen before. I'm definitely enjoying playing it so far.
Silent Hill Movie Thoughts (Review?)
by eatsometofu on Comments
well i went and saw the movie....i went with two other people who hadn't played the game...i did understand most of the plot while they came out of it pretty confused...all in all, i thoroughly enjoyed the movie even though by no means was it a great movie...i still don't think video games have got the movie adaptation that gamers have been waiting for
the monsters and effects were very impressive in most cases, and pyramid head was downright amazing to look at and pretty menacing...however, as with the story there is too much explaining in the end that still didn't make sense for people who haven't played the game. for people who have played the game, the movie could have adhered to the game more that would have made the movie much better...i still don't think sean bean's character was necessary for the movie
they should have expanded on the utter desolation and hopelessness of the main character as she enters Silent Hill..as for the action, i like the calm and then the outburst of violence, even though not scary, merely gorey but they certainly could have had more outbursts of violence...at certain points the movie seemed more focused on being a mystery adventure than a true horror experience
i understand that this is a movie but the look of the movie would have been better if "bright" scenes were avoided (whatever that means) sometimes silent hill felt too "normal" and didn't really transmit the viewer to an otherworldy existence...
i can certainly understand why the critic's reviews were so bad...the movie doesn't offer anything mind blowing or a cohesive storyline...leaving a lot of people confused...but for the fans of the games, the movie is certainly worth the watch on the big screen

just started playing Project: Snowblind online. it's pretty good online, i thought it was better than Doom 3 online. i think certainly one of the best shooters on playstation 2.
