As of the last 5 or 6 years I have gotten completely feed up with the music industry and how they handle there business. For the last 10 year rap has pushed me to the edge of sanity. There is a difference from having fun with music and just saying stuff. That a lot of rock bands that have fun that every once in a while come up with a song that speaks from the heart. I haven't found but maybe 3 or four out of thousands of rap artist (Hip-Hop is reserved only for Real MC's and "Artist" not the lose term artist as someone that speaks in a rhyme.)May talk about such crude nonsense it makes me sick. I've see the stuff they talk about and even after the money comes it is always so sad to see friends Die and families torn apart by drugs and violence. It hurts you soul to think of it at times. When I was growing up Hip-hop and Rap were a movement. not a profit campaign because you need quick money and fake power surrounded by lies an misery.I listen to Most Def, Talib Quali, The Roots, Common, and a few other Hip Hop artist out there. I used to Listen to Eminem but he hasn't put anything out in a while and I think he was hurting over the state of Rap/Hip Hop now as well. A few other out there are semi interesting but give not emotion or growth in there rhymes so they bore me. I won't turn on the radio unless it is talk now just out of spite for the fact that good artist will never be heard.
I wonder if anyone heard the "Read a Book" song, a lot of people thought it was racist and it totally wasn't. The style of rap he was using had to be written in a semi vulgar way. Women were no demeaned at all so I though that was good. But the point was Read book get educated. The thing about art is it is not always beautiful but can touch some type of emotion or feeling deep down. The artist name is Bomani Armite and I took a moment to learn that he is an English teacher with a degree in english. A lot of time we look away at something with out actually listening and learning about a subject. My first impression of his work was that he was just some dude trying to score cash with a crazy song. Taking the time to understand I now was able to see his means of education was by using the music to influence culture in a positive light as opposed to the negative as normal style. He gained a lot of respect from me and I plan to actually pay money for his content based off the premise for his music.
Now that I just talked your head off. The reason I am expressing this is i just so happened to look at a google and saw a CNN banner referring to an article about "Ex-Child soldier raps about hellish life." We have so many people killing one another for nothing now a day it is insane. "another student guns down 3 or 4," is daily headlines now it is madness. We have EMO kids Killing themselves and Metal Kids shooting up schools and Rap Kids murdering one another because a lame artist with no talent tells them not to respect the people around them. It is so sad I almost want to let out tears. A young man from Sudan was raised as a soldier and made it out alive he was brain-washed and watched his aunt and sister being raped. he had kill many people and at some point him and 400 other attempted to escape there lives. And of that 400 only 12 made it. There is a war in Sudan where millions are dying either for money or religion that they don't even believe in. And through all this he survived and spends his life through Rap Raising funds and displaying a message of positivity to the world to what is happening in that warzone. Where hundreds of thousands of children have no parents to guide them, feed them or teach them right from wrong.
It hurts to see people wanting to turn into killers to make money where there are thousands of children being brain washed to into Killing machines. May Nas was right to say that Hip Hop is dead. Corporations don't get paid from positive inventions if that were the case and economic electronic car would be available to save fossil fuels. People need to stand up and stop tolerating this garbage. Everyone not just one group. I know personally the US needs to be re-Educated. I watch peoples minds become so close minded it bothers me to no end. About everything. It starts from parents and works its way down. i know I need it to be able to see the things around me that aren't right and that hurt more than just me.
MUSIC IS THE HEART OF THE PEOPLE!! IF OUR HEART IS CORRUPT HOW CAN WE FEEL HOW CAN WE CARE? IF THE MUSIC IS SELFISH WE ARE SELFISH!! Because the music is the heart of the people. it is our heart our spirit and and our power. Powerful music fuels the body and moves the the waves. We need wake up and speak with our hearts so that the pain and sorry can be released. It is the only way we can fix our state. The only thing missing form the constitution for the united States of America was the rule of respect your neighbor. Because with out respect for live and others. The Music and the world will fall into more pain.
