Yargh.....

So, my Xbox 360 premium that was the best that money could buy in February 2007 is going to become obsolete, around the same time that I am planning to buy a big ass HD TV of course.

I wonder have many people stated their disgust of microsoft basically short handing previous premium owners with their improved "gel" that they threw in to stop the chip popping off the motherboard because flexes when it gets hot, they have the new cooler / smaller chips coming soon, and now they have HDMI ports on them? It's getting to the point wher eI kind of want to sell my premium and get n elite. Just to keep up with the "xmas 2007" model. Arse.

Anyway, speaking of getting a new console, I likt the way the ps3 has come together, albeit a little late but it's getting there. They have a good solid line up theis Autumn and it's looking ever more tempting. If only it cost 500 euros. If they dropped it to that here I'd have one ASAP. Home is intruiging to say the least, it's becoming more apparent that Microsoft are scrambling to stretch their ideas because they might be panicing a bit at the innovation (innovation may be a strong word, motion control and free online communities are hardly fresh) that their 2 main competitors are pushing and getting into peoples homes. I think Microsoft though that because they were first they'd lay the steping stones for Sony and Nintendo to attempt to follow them over, and this wasn't the case as Nintendo went the opposite casual gamers way and Sony is now in the middle of creating it's oown slant. Home needs to do it all. In my opinion people are missing out on all the ps3 has to over simply becasue their cross-media bar is getting full of stuff. Home, for me, needs to be the first UI that you see when you turn on a PS3, that it's your avatar getting out of bed or sitting down or whatever way they go. That way, it will prompt people to use it (assuming it's good) and in another way it will really force people to at least use it once. I hope this option exists.

I was going to write more but I'll keep that for next time. I'm new to this blogging business so i'll keep it short!

I'm now 'current-gen'

Well I finally decided on my next console last saturday and bought an Xbox 360. I was still strangely unsure about my purchase even as I was carrying the console into it's new home.

All of this changed when I fired it up. The dashboard system is nice and simple, and even turning on the console just with the controller make syou wonder why you'rve waiting this long to do so.

Combine this with the pure sense of awe when Gears of Ward loads up and then you get to see what this thing tcan do. That game looks amazing, and that's just on my regular TV! Though the gameplay at the beginning was a simple duck, cover, shoot, repeat combination but, after 5 hours of continuos play, there is more to it then that. The game balances stunning visuals with intense gameplay, and throw in some truely funny comments from the Delata Squad and it's a great experience. Not that i'm a converted MS fanboy or anything, it just looks damn pretty (well it will until the next Unreal 3 engine powered game comes our way).

The controllers, while really alien to me for about 2 hours, really is the best best controller out there. So comfortable, and with a nice rumble too....

So I'm happy with the xbox now, might get a PS3 for christmas. Well, only if metal gear is out!
