@Zombie8814: If you want to play older games, you're better off buying a dirt cheap Wii U. Switch is allegedly the first Nintendo console in a while with no backwards compatibility.
Of course, Switch looks like a more attractive console by a large margin, but if you mostly want to catch up, Wii U is better.
@simplytheebest: I don't think we'll ever see more complicated games like proper console Marios and Zeldas on smartphones. They'd be unplayable! Also, PC makes the XO redundant, unless you're really into Halo and Gears.
@AzatiS: I also doubt it's as powerful as PS4. The important thing is it's good enough for games to easily scale down to it. Otherwise it will probably be another Nintendo console with mostly Nintendo games. At least there would be ~twice the amount this time, with only one platform.
@AzatiS: As for your second question, as long as Nintendo Switch is in the same ballpark as PS4/XBone, it will probably stay relevant for the duration of Pro/Scorpio, since as far as I understand it, all Pro/Scorpio games will have to run on PS4/XBone as well. Of course, we don't know yet if Switch is in that ballpark.
@validifyed: Alien, indeed. PC+Nintendo seems like a great combo now that most AAA games get ported to PC, and all Nintendo games will be released on a single console (supposedly).
@Thanatos2k: The embarrasing thing is console manufacturers pushing 4k before the games can even run in 1080p at 60fps.
First party games on Wii U all run at 60fps. It was a pretty wonky console, but at least Nintendo have their priorities straight.
4k has diminishing returns. 4k is the future, but it's not a big enough win to rush it. (Note that I'm not talking about HDR, which is probably a much bigger win.)
@GunEye @edgarallanfoe Oh, I don't like Strider's story. I like how little space the story takes, so I can play uninterrupted. Sometimes I enjoy stories in games (Chrono Trigger), but mostly I just feel they get in the way.
I also bought Valdis Story, but haven't played it much yet. It has potential, for sure.
@majere613 I don't even see how this game "advocates a confused brand of nihilism". It doesn't do that any more than GTA advocates stealing cars and killing innocents. I think the cynical premise in The Castle Doctrine is quite humorous. "Rob other people's houses to afford protecting your own". The irony in that is pretty hilarious.
