I haven't played Burnout either, but I can vouch for COD 4.

I'm really into FPS's in the first place, but even as a bigger Halo fan (or even Shadowrun for that matter), I can't deny Call of Duty 4 is a great online multiplayer game.

It's very addicting even when you have frustrating games because you are constantly unlocking new guns, perks and camoflauge patterns for your weapons. There is a gigantic list of challenges that you can try to complete during your matchs so you get to both play and try to unlock new things while you do it, giving you a bigger sense of value out of playing. Most importantly though, the maps are first rate, you will find some levels may not be for you but there are so many and so much variety that it's practically impossible to not enjoy some of them. Also since it's been out for awhile and many people have switched to COD: WAW, you shouldn't have to pay too much at a GameStop or any local gaming store for it. Great game.

I'm glad Jimmy Eat World made it this time around.

Ignoring all of the typical forum talk...I intend to get straight to the point.

Yes, I strongly recommend buying the Xbox 360. First, I am biased. I have never owned a Playstation console, and as such I cannot compare systems. However, I can tell you that the 360 seems to have better game choices in terms of the sheer amount of good games. It's a sturdy system as long as you don't play it for so long that it overheats (or just buy the 20 dollar fan attachment, shouldnt have any problems). I bought mine launch week and it still works, albeit the disc drive is fussy.

Picking 2 games is a pretty impossible task without knowing genres you like. It also depends on if you plan to purchase Xbox Live because without live many games that people may mention would simply not be worth buying. Everyone can list their favorites but I'll try to keep from biasing my own favorites in suggesting.

If you like first person shooters and plan to buy xbox live you need Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4. Both are incredible games, very different from one another but both very fun. If you want a cheap FPS for live look into Shadowrun.

If you don't buy xbox live, you simply must get Bioshock. It isin't just a game, it's basically playing your way through a really good movie. You have to have it without live, with live you could argue to spending your money elsewhere.

If you like racing, Project Gotham Racing 4 or Forza Motorsport 2 are your best choices.

If you like open world games Elder Scrolls 4 is one of the greatest ever, it's huge, you can play it forever and you will find yourself getting lost in the great storyline, music and character development. GTA 4 is a great choice too for more of an adventure open world style game. Of course, both of these are on PS3 as well.

While I didn't really touch on all of the genres, or even a broad amount, these are the ones I typically play. It's all I can give accurate game reviews on.

If I were to pick 2 games for you without knowing anything I would say get Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 and BioShock. Both are FPS's but Bioshock is more of an RPG, action adventure game and Halo 3 or Call of Duty are your multiplayer games. This is only if you get Xbox Live. If you don't buy Bioshock and Elder Scrolls or any genre specefic game you are looking for that is highly rated on Gamespot.
