Thanks. I suppose I'm just gonna watch PO cutscenes on youtube or something and move on to PW then. I don't know, it makes sense for a portable game to be broken up into missions, but something about PO structure bothered me a lot.

I have a few, and for the same system in fact. The thing is, both my brother and I own two 360s that are installed on two different 40" TV sets side-by-side. System Link FTW! We usually do it for games with good co-op. Off the top of my head I think RE5 and MW2 (whatevs), but I'm willing to buy another Reach and another Army of Two the 40th Day. In all honesty, I own one and he owns one, but we live in the same house so, I guess it kinda counts, doesn't it?

umm i read on ign it's pretty much just a import of it from psp...

ign said the graphics are pretty crapy, no new added content will be in,

I think you missed my point there. Or I wasn't clear enough. I want to know if I need to play Portable Ops (the MGS released on the PSP previous to Peace Walker) in order to better understand Peace Walker's plot.

[QUOTE="Ki-ool"]Halo gameplay isn't out of date. At all. Kudos to Bungie for not jumping in with now generic shooters like CoD and BF.elpooz

Go play Halo:CE and then Reach. They feel the same, they play the same, you're doing the same things. I wouldn't say it's out of date, but it's getting there.

Good troll there.

I can't stand CE. The level design is soooooo repetitive and boring the only way I made through the game was playing co-op with my brother after he had already beaten it on Legendary. Halo 2 was a little better but I only got on the whole Halo thing around 3. Besides, have you played ODST? Yeah, just like CE. Oh, you mean shooting things in a first-person view is what you do over and over again? In that case, Halo = Wolfstein 3D. Right on the money, sir.

Wrong. What do you expect them to do, stop releasing Halo games altogether? Or are just the numbered ones that bother you? If you ask me, remaking CE is much more close to "milking the franchise" than releasing a new, fresh installment. And according to rumors, it's gonna be Extra Strong Halls fresh (sorry, couldn't think of a better metaphor).

I had originally posted this same thread on the PSP board, but since no one seems to give a damn, I'm reposting it here. I think it's pertinent considering the upcoming release of the MGS HD Collection on the Xbox 360. Anyway, the original post:

So, all the talk about the MGS HD Collection rekindled my interest in my dusted MGS Peace Walker UMD. I never got past the tutorial (although I was overwhelmed by the little I saw), thinking that I should play Portable Ops first - a game that I played a couple of missions and really disliked.

So my question is: is Portable Ops necessary for a good understanding of Peace Walker's plot? Even better, is it necessary in any level at all?

Hello all. In my research to solve my flickering problem (I've post about it earlier today), I found out about the HD VGA cable for the Xbox 360. Well, I haven't mentioned it before, but my TV's native resolution is 1360x768 (WXGA) and not the actual 720p (1280x720). Does anyone know how WXGA fares in comparison to 720p in a case like mine, either when it comes to image quality as when it comes to response time? The WXGA standard scan is progressive or interlaced? It makes sense being progressive, but I couldn't find much information about it.

stick with 1080i problem solvedBoxcutters

As I said, it doesn't solve the problem for me, mainly for 2 reasons:

1) I put some good bucks on something and I want it to work as it is supposed to;

2) Doesn't downscaling 1080i to 720p makes on-screen renderization a little slower, thus adding a delay on in-game inputs? I mean, when playing something like Lost Odyssey, it doesn't make much difference, but won't gameplay be hurt by it when playing games like DMC or Geometry Wars? I still have to test that, so far I only tested GRAPHICAL differences between 720p and downscaled 1080i (and there was none although I experienced framerate gags twice in Lost Odyssey after switching to 1080i... sure, that could be the game engine's fault anyway).
