GTA V Review

The wait for Grand Theft Auto V is finally over and millions of gamers from around the world have called in sick from work, taken vacation time off and skipped school in order to make the trip to Los Santos. GTA V is a beautiful collage of the hard work Rockstar has been putting into their past several games; GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3. Elements from all three games have been fine tuned and fully realized in GTA V, easily making it the best game in the Grand Theft Auto series. In GTA V, Rockstar pulled back from being always serious and gritty as its predecessor was and made a Grand Theft Auto game that was fun and funny to play once again, while balancing silly and somber moments throughout the story. Along with the story mode, GTA V offers you an open world jam packed with plenty of things to do as well as places to explore. You can cruise or speed around Los Santos in your whip, go to the shooting range, hunt wild game, swim with sharks, work on your flying skills, buy property, customize characters/vehicles, cause outright mayhem and more. While I usually agree with Gamespots score when it comes to video games, this time I dont. The offensive, juvenile and hurtful personal attacks on Carolyn Petit for giving GTA V a 9/10 score were wrong and unjustified. However, we still have a right to respectfully disagree with her score and provide constructive criticism. My rating for GTA V is a solid 10 score, which should have been Gamespots as well; GS set the bar at 10 when GTA IV got a 10/10 score when it came out in 2008. Since GTA V is superior to its predecessor in every way, its no surprise that giving it a lower score than GTA IV would cause such a backlash from the gaming community. Enjoy your trip to Los Santos; have a good time, get some sun, make a ton of money and try not to get wasted too many times. One last piece of advice, there will come a time near the end of the story mode where youll have to pick between A, B or C go with option C or youll be kicking yourself afterwards and choice C is a lot more satisfying.

Diablo III Console Demo Review

Before booking my flight to Los Santos, thought I'd share with everyone my thoughts regarding the Diablo III Console Demo that's available, for FREE, on Xbox 360 and PS3. Over the weekend I was bored and impatiently counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds til GTA V was officially out. While on my Xbox Live account, I noticed that there was a demo for Diablo III; which I had already played and beaten on PC, but I decided to download it to kill some demons, time and see how much better or worse D3 is from the PC version. Been a Diablo fan ever since the franchise first came out back in the 90's and spent countless hours playing Diablo II over and over and over again. As most Diablo fans already know, the wait for D3 quite literally seemed to take forever and while it's a good game, like "The Dark Knight Rises"; it's just an inferior sequel. Never-the-less, I did enjoy playing the demo version of D3; it's 1.2 G's, so it's going to take a few minutes to download, but in return you get a few hours of fun and a free trip to Sanctuary. Once I got use to how everything worked, I was amazed how quick and easy it was to play D3 on my Xbox. In the demo, which is a rather decent helping; you get to pick any of the classes to play as which goes all the way up to Level 9, you can invite 1-3 friends over to play it with you and the demo goes all the way to the confrontation with the Skeleton King. If you're on the fence about whether or not to get D3 on console or always in the mood for something FREE; you owe it to yourself to DL and play the D3 Console demo.

Saints Row IV Review

Initially, I wasn't intending on purchasing SR4; especially since I'm tempted to freeze myself in anticipation of the GTA V, but the thought of ending up in 2546 with various Atheist factions at war with each other detoured me from doing so. While I also played SR3, unlike other Open World games I've play like; Red Dead Redemption and Skyrim, it's replay value quickly deteriorated after beating the game. What ultimately changed my mind regarding SR4 was how much fun everyone else seemed to have playing it and in my opinion it's much better overall than SR3, even though it obviously uses the same system/engine/graphics as its predecessor. The idea of having Super Powers in an open world setting has always been very appealing to me and SR4 did not disappoint. The Story Mode from start to finish, with the exception of a few bugs and freezes, was very enjoyable. There were moments that felt epic and others that gave me a good laugh as well. Unfortunately, as with SR3, once you beat SR4 it's replay value goes downhill. If you're a fan of Open World games and looking for a good time as well as a chance at using Super Powers to wreck all sorts of joyful destruction and havoc; I would highly recommend SR4 as a rental or when it can be found in the discount basket a few months/years down the road. After beating SR4, I would have to say that Gamespots 7.5 Rating is Spot On.
