Language in general has no intrinsic qualities which might make any particular form of itself more desirable than others on an objective level. Languages are arbitrary in nature and each one can serve its communicative purpose admirably as long as you are willing to learn it. As such, English is no better than, say, Chinese Mandarin or Afrikaans.

I think this topic requires a kind of philosophical reflection that would have no place on this forum.

For now, this: all violence is barbaric. It's only a question if you can stomach it. What that means for you, I don't know.

Go with DA:O. Fallout 3 is by no means a bad game, but DA:O has a singleplayer campaign that lasts between 50-60 hours and insane replayability. I am not joking. It is even more replayable than ME2. Also, DA:O is a challenging game even on its normal settings. It is also very rewarding, and you can carry your character over to its upcoming expansion, and probably to whatever sequel there will be next year.

DIII only seems cartoonish because of the transition to 3d. Sure, I guess the colors could do some some desaturation. We all know blizz likes primary colors.

But if you took a good look at it you'd realize that it is actually gloriously gory, and gothic. It's just brighter and livelier.

You could try Rainbow Six: Vegas and the like if you're into tactical shooters.
