PS3 Support

There has been a lot of talk about the woes of Sony and the Playstation 3 as up late. Many are asking in the the gaming behemoth can stay afloat with it's newest console venture. Although well founded, I wouldn't worry quite yet.

Certainly Sony needs to retool their game plan, which had already been seen by the "changing of the guard" in Playstation management as well as a promise of 360+ new titles on the PS3 by March 2008.

Some still feel that Sony is on a downward spiral with their big black box, but I feel that they can pull it off.

Just look at how Sony has managed the previous two console, with great third party support along with a solid fan base. This will continue because I don't believe that Sony has lost any third party support and what has currently caused many game critics to throw their arms in the air is simply a shift in the industry: more multi-platform games.

In the increasingly more competitive gaming industry, it is a much more profitable choice to release a game on as many consoles as possible - to the demise of Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.

Nevertheless, Sony merely needs a few outstanding titles on the PS3 as well as a possibly price drop (because they priced themselves out of the market) and they will see many Sony Playstation fans return to their side.

I believe that it can will happen very soon. I also still predict that the Wii will see nearly complete reversal, because Nintendo is horrible at maintaining the longevity of any console and the Wii will stop being a cool-new-gimmick someday.

Nintendo No More

After the recent events concerning the Gamecube version of the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, I have decided to never buy a Nintendo product again after I purchase the Zelda title. I have waited nearly 3 years for this title to be released and within the final few months before it's release, the GC version is pushed back further so that a Wii version can be released in time for the console 's launch. I have no interest in the Wii and Nintendo's past failings with the N64 and the GC has lead me to believe that this abstract direction with the Wii has been ill-founded. Therefore, I will not buy and Wii and will not support Nintendo any longer after the release of the GC version of Zelda. I have been a Nintendo fan since I was 5 years-old and have defended them to the end, but no more. I am very upset.

E3 no more

Wow this news about E3 getting a totally new revamp is awfully disturbing. I just can't see how this will benefit the industry. Sure, developers will save a ton of money in the process, but at the cost of attracting consumers...a tricky move. I agree with one of the Gamespot editors when he explained that developers will more than likely shift huge announcements to events thrown on their own terms. This will ultimately destroy the spectacle of E3 and diminish its importance in the video game industry. Not to mention it has crushed my dreams of ever making my way to the LA Convention center for an E3.... :(

Zelda....and the Wii

So I'm sitting here listening to music from Ocarina of Time and I can't help thinking...how with this new Zelda (Twilight Princess) will stack up? Will it meet my Zelda needs from Ocarina of Time or will it be another above average title that still falls just shy of my expectations?

Also, I'm still not sure what the difference between the Wii version and Game cube will be. Better graphics??? More levels/dungeons??? I haven't really found an answer. I don't plan on buying a Wii as Nintendo has disappointed me with the Game cube and made me very upset in the waning years of the N64. Perhaps someday I will buy a Wii when it is very cheap, but Sony and Microsoft have a strangle hold on the third-party market and I fear that with Wii's unique functionality, Nintendo will lose even more support. I think that it may be a gimmick that just might force Nintendo's hand into strictly software development....

Nintendo is my first love in video games and I truly wish that they don't disappointed me in my last Nintendo purchase for a while with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
