@soulcrusher777: If you ask me both consoles will do amazingly this generation. If you like the Xbox series X you should definitely go for it as I am sure it'll be a fantastic console.
If I make a comparison between the two consoles its because I enjoy the competition and discussions between the two. Happy gaming!
@cage_92: You don't understand memory bandwidth and what it means for the future of graphics performance.
AMD and Nvidia the biggest players in the graphics industry are keenly aware of the power of memory bandwidth for performance. As a matter of fact these two companies are already deploying SSD IO implementations similar to that of Sony's to bring over to the PC market. Hell even Microsoft is deploying some form of SSD IO to further system performance; they call it "Velocity Architecture".
If you think the PS5 SSD is just to load games faster you'd be sorely mistaken. The PS5's SSD custom IO chip set is the first and most powerful of its kind. When the benchmarks start trickling in and the big Sony titles start coming out, don't be surprised to see the PS5 excel in all manners of gameplay. If none of this makes sense to you, let me explain a bit more...
Because of the PS5's highly communicative, custom hardware design; memory bandwidth on the PS5 is double that of the Xbox series X. And when you consider upcoming IO software like Kraken, available memory bandwidth for PS5 games will nearly double again. So what does this all mean?
It means Xbox series X will not be as powerful as the PS5. The PS5 will leave Xbox in the dust. Its as simple as that.
Why do you people set yourselves up for disappointment? What’s the point of lying to yourselves? Let me throw you a bone;
You are misinformed. Yes... If you are expecting the Series X to be faster than the PS5 you are highly misinformed. In reality it’s more likely that the PS5 will make you resent your Xbox Series X supposed speed.
Those 3 extra teraflops wont cut it. Bandwidth is king and the PS5 has nearly double that of the Series X
Not related to this game but certainly related to Xbox brand.
DMC 5: Special Edition on the Series S runs at 900p resolution. Yes... you read that correctly 900p; that’s below 1080p. Next gen? Not so much. Buy series X.
What else... well it turns out Digital Foundry from youtube tested the blu-ray drive on the series X and it would seem it does not actually support Dolby Vision hardware acceleration. Instead it will do software accelerated Dolby Vision, which is inferior.
I expect the same from PS5 really. But I thought it’s important for people to know what they are buying.
