I strongly suggest against tv speakers. Its quite literally the worst sound source possible. Exceptions apply to the terribly gifted speakers of course! But yes please never consider TV speakers as a viable option. It's just bad.
I'll come out and say it; I am on the PC and Playstation 5 camp. But I like to make objective observations if at all possible!
So I think overall the Series X console looks great, and it would seem its SSD chops are quite good. But one thing that stood out to me is the controller. The Xbox series X controller looks cheap. The close-up shots reveal a controller that has a rough textured look to it. I wouldn't think its rough feeling, but it certainly looks rough visually. Doesn't quite match the console itself I think.
The host described the d-pad as stiff, it certainly looks stiff. Not sure why Xbox insist on this style of d-pad. It was never good, and I doubt it ever will be good; Xbox needs to move on from this design. The thumbstick doesn't inspire much either in the way of lasting assurance. I think I could easily wear these out (I have done so with my Dualshocks 3's) and could possibly do it even faster with the Series X controller.
Of course, this is just from looking at it. Structural feel could tell a different story and provide more reassurance.
@goldenageplayer: I'm reserving opinion till Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield are released. Even though I've been burned by Oblivion and Skyrim and Fallout 4. Though these games fall short of the greatness that is Morrowind; I still rather enjoyed them.
@jenovaschilld: Excellent post. Bottom line is that this "outdated strategy" is a proven strategy. Microsoft just spent 7.5 billion on Zenimax; this alone is an indication of that. As it stands exclusives will remain an important part in a platforms success.
@brightamethyst: You still cant deny It had some heavy hitter rpg's. I enjoyed a slew of RPG's on the original Xbox. This was during a very stagnant point in Japan where they weren't doing squat in terms of games and the West was dominating. This was before our lord Miyazaki came with Demon Souls, then everything changed. But before this I enjoyed the already aforementioned games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Mass Effect, Kotor, Kotor 2, Fable, Jade Empire, Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance. (that game was fire!)
I'm sure there were more, but these are off the top of my head!
BTW I got my Eiyuden Chronicles statue and game coming @ release! As you can see I am also a fan of Jrpgs!
