@gamerforlife96: Some developers will continue to support X1 but those that don't will nonetheless develop for Series S to start as the S will be the most popular of the three.
As an advocate of superior, cutting edge systems and games; I find this to be problematic. Id much prefer the Series X to lead the games along with the PS5. Instead you will see Series S, PS5, and Switch Pro as the primary consoles.
@6t4gp: PC is great and its where I game primarily. The PS5 will have great exclusives and so that's why I will be getting one. As for anything Xbox, I can simply play it on PC no problem.
One last thing Id like to add to is that PC will be the only place to actually experience great Ray Tracing. Consoles will try to sell Ray Tracing, but what consoles will offer will hardly be worth mentioning. For the true experience definitely look for it in PC gaming. Still maybe these consoles will surprise me.... I'm hoping Sony would at the very least.
There is one particular developer who was taken aback by the Series S;
"As a consumer, I love this! 😍
As a Technical Producer, I see trouble!!! 😒 https://t.co/fdPWGL5Yx5

Maybe Xbox can deal with it somehow, but it will be very difficult. I would wait and see how the consoles perform before buying if exclusives make no difference to you.
As for me... I really enjoy Demon Souls, so I will go with the PS5. I also enjoy Bloodborne and its sequel is probably likely to happen. Also Sony is focused on next gen experiences strictly... I think I prefer that too.
@6t4gp: Optimization. But I outlined that above; the series X will need properly optimized games if its Teraflop's are to be used. That will be difficult with the variety of Xbox consoles to optimize for.
If performance is what you care for, I would wait and see which console performs the best when comparisons become available on youtube, ect. If you are a fan of either consoles, get what you like. That said...
The Xbox Series X will generally run games the fourth worst after the Switch pro, Xbox one, and Series S. The reason for this is the optimization developers will need to accomplish with the Xbox family of consoles. Obviously this will vary game to game, but generally speaking you will see less graphics throughput and fps on the Xbox Series X. Its sometimes easy to overlook the business side of games, but at the end of the day games are a business and business includes compromises. In the case of the Xbox the split of development cost across different SKU's will be the limiting factor that will affect overall Xbox game quality. This is an informed observation, but may very well be the likely scenario based on the game development business.
Finally to answer your question, I think the Playstation 5 should be priced fairly and as low as possible. This is irregardless of Xbox Series X current pricing scheme. As it stands the Xbox is no particular competition for the PS5 as the Playstation brand is currently very strong. This is specially true in regions like Japan and Europe where Sony dominates market share. As for Xbox.. its fighting a long term battle banking on subscription count. It may eventually catch up in overall market share, but for the moment Sony will retain the lead with unit sales, game count and overall consumer excitement.
