i'm planning on getting xbox live soon but am unsure dueto the amount of critisicm it has recieved, is it worth getting?

i just got an xbox and i also have aa ps3. i love my ps3. i also love my xbox but i dont think that since you buy the system, then you buy a wireless adapter, then buy the game and then you have to pay to play online games i just dont thinks its fair. psn is free
it seems to me that almost every person has dreamed of being able to fly. so why havent they created a game that would allow you to do this and do it well.
to be incredably awesome and fun. the game is following the current tend of letting user create their own content for other users to view. just like youtube where users create and post their own videos little big planet lets player create play and distribute their own levels.
