Honestly all disc systems have a chance of doing this. Doesn't anyone remember the HUGE amount of PS2 games ruined for the same reason? My PS3 did it once, Dreamcast, PS1 et al The only disc based systems I've owned that haven't done it is my WII and the Sega CD.

The propensity of the 360 doing it over the PS2 is comparing a flea bite to a snake bite. It happens but no where near as often.

Your xbox isn't dying, it just had a bad boot up. The loss of account info was due to a sync problem. The sky isn't falling :)

I've got a standard xbox on day one. I run it just about every day for up to 10 hours at a time (especially if my daughter is on it) and i've had ZERO problems.

The original ring of death was exclusive to a production run. And even if you do get it, never fear. Unlike sony (if anyone remembers the PS2 release debacle in which 7 of 10 PS2's were defective and sony claimed customer fault,) Microsoft has your back. Ship your box to them for free, expect a 2-3 week turn around and you'll get your box back.

Not only is the topic of this discussion illegial, it's also just wrong. If your xbox is defective, follow the proper channels to get it fixed. If you want a new one get a job and buy it. by being fraudulent you not only drive the cost of systems but also could jeapordize some ones job.

Honesty and integrity folks.
