Back In The Game BABY!

I'm back! Over three years without a post, but I'm still here. I've got to update my collection but I've added quite a few games, especially on my iPhone. On my last post, I was all about the DS, but honestly, my iPhone has become my everything! I still have my Wii though so that's awesome. Granted I did have to send it to Nintendo to get it repaired (and lose my Super Mario Galaxy save in the process (ARGH!)) but it was totally worth it. After having Metroid: Other M for over 2 years, I finally completed it in about a month. Sure, it shouldn't have taken that long, but 2 kids will totally deplete your game time, and make late night gaming sessions few and far between. Two nights ago, I finished Limbo for the PC, what an accomplishment I must say! That game was tough! I had to pat myself mentally on the back, even though I had to look up one chapter (34) but other than that, all on my own. My next conquests you ask, Far Cry and Metroid Prime: Echoes. I try and balance it out between my systems but I refuse to put a iPhone game in there, because I have so many to play. Thus, my only dilemma is this, I just got Pikmin 2 for the Wii, do I dare start it?!

Games & Work

I have to tell you, I'm really trying to keep up with gaming these days. Now that I'm started in my career of Air Traffic Control, I find I have less and less time to game...but things are looking up!

I must say that when I do have a chance, you can find me curled up on the couch getting in a good session of Nintendo DS's Air Traffic Chaos (go figure.) I just picked up GTA: Chinatown Wars and am amazed at how awesome the game is. My wife just picked up Professor Layton for the DS and she is enjoying that as well. I'm happy to report that I just completed Ace Combat: Fires of Liberation for the 360, and now I'm onto Blazing Angels which is a great arcade flyer in its own right. I'm also trying to complete Beyond Good & Evil on the PC, but it's been touch and go these past couple months

In the end, I have so many games to play, and so little time to do it. But some way, some how, I can always find time to get a good session in, no matter how big or small. When I will finish these games is beyond me, but at least I'm trying to keep up!

Until next time!

Thanks ebay...and Gamestop...and Wal*Mart...and Best Buy

So yesterday was pretty normal, worked, went out to have chinese, nothing out of the ordinary, until Gamestop. While I was eating din-din with the wife, I noticed a guy walking through the mall with a huge Gamestop bag. I used every bit of my vision to see what was in it, and then I saw the box...Wii. At that point, I knew I had to act. Okay, it was my beautiful wife who told me we should go to GS and see if they had anymore. Walked in, asked the rep and lone behold, they had one! I was told him I'd take one, and then, to my surprise, my wife said she'd buy one too, I almost hit the floor. Now it's not like we don't have one; I was lucky enough to get one launch day by doing the same thing I did today. So next stop, ebay!! Now, last xmas I sold about 6 PS3s and made about $800 profit, so that was awesome. This year, I've been lucky enough to sell 1 (thanks to Wal*Mart) before xmas, which made me about $200 and now I have two to sell. Actually, the one (without WiiPlay I bundled) already made me over $100 and the one I did bundle will end tonight. It just amazes me how much you can make off these systems! I mean, I can understand paying $500 before xmas...okay I can't really understand that, but geez, there must be some desperate people out there. Of course I can say that because I have one, but I'd never pay more than I was supposed to pay for it. I guess that's the great thing about ebay...and Gamestop, and Wal*Mart, and Best Buy, you're making me a bunch of money. Oh, I almost forgot, the most important part of thing that makes this all happen...my credit card!

Wiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Best Buy, I asked if they had any left, they said they had three, I almost died, so I bought one, along with Zelda.  Freakin Sweet The Wii Is !!!

New & Upcoming...

You know what's scary?  All the next gen consoles will be out in about a month.  That's pretty scary because with how expensive they are, I'm not gonna be picking one of these systems up for at least 6 months.  Let's not even talk about PS3 shortages, the Wii flying off the shelves and the xbox 360 still being a hot commodity this year, because with a late November release, more parents are going to be saying to store associates, "you tell little Johnny why he's not getting his (insert system here) this Xmas!"  It's gonna be freakin crazy.  That being said, I will use this time to complete the latter of my current gen games and PC games; by the time I finish the bulk of these games, shortages should be over and more games will be out for all the systems as well.  Plus, who knows if the PS3 or even the Wii will have overheating issues like the 360, so it's almost worth it to wait a year for things to blow over.  I just hope people have more decency this year than last.  With folks stealing 360's from kids in the parking lot, crazy parents and shortages, tied in with the Xmas season, it's gonna be a long December.  In closing, I will not be picking up a next gen console this year, but if someone purchases one for me, it's not my fault (didn't buy a DS initially, my Mom did for my December 2004 b-day, who'da thought?!)

To Flightsim, Or Not To Flightsim...

I have to say, with the imminent release of FSX, I have been very reluctant to load up FS2004 one last time.  I've spent countless hours and money making that sim rock my socks off and now, I can't justify loading it up one last time.  I keep playing the updated FSX demo, since I got rid of the beta during a reformat, but I'm glad I did, for some odd reason.  I kind of like waiting for the release and not playing FS2004 for a couple weeks (since I haven't played since mid-september.)  It's also very good to know that most add-ons will be patched so all that money won't be lost with this new release and I can, somewhat, pick up where I left off.  Sure I've heard all the horror stories of autogen slowing even the best systems to a crawl and most people swearing off FSX already, but soon everyone will change over and deal with it.  The FS series has always pushed our computers to the brink and while Oblivion will run on today's high end computers, FSX is another story, hopefully until Vista and DX10 video cards are released.  Bottom line, sometimes I think MS knows that with a new FS release, new revenue will be generated because so many simmers upgrade and with the Vista and DX10 cards on the horizon, they will quickly be snatched up by simmers hoping it will solve the FSX low framerate issue.  Until then, I will get FSX next week and force myself to not look at the framerates and start with all my sliders to the minimum and increase them until I get satisfactory performance flying around in Chicago airspace.  Perhaps I'll post again once I smooth things out in FSX, until next time...

Back At It With Ace Combat

Man, I really missed this series.  I started playing Ace Combat Zero last night and wondered why I waited so long to load it up.  This game is solid and the dogfighting is a lot harder this time around.  Although I did like the feel of Ace Combat 5 a little better, because of the storyline, which made you feel so involved, the missions are very immersive and it really takes you in.  I should have loaded this game up months ago!
