A new kind of racing game!

A trip to Sri Lanka a few years ago game me an idea for this racing game. Not involving cars, bikes, speedboats or pod racers, the mode of transportation used for racing here involves a type of public transport which is fairly common in a few Asian countries like Thailand, Sri Lanka and India, and they are – trishaws! Yes, I’m talking about the 3 wheeled, motorized trishaws then you may have seen in movies – you know the type – the ones that look like motorbikes but with a 2 seater carriage attached to its back, hence making it a 3 wheeler. I think a racing game based on this concept might just do well, as there aren’t any trishaw based racing games I’ve seen yet. Of course, making it a racing game, the trishaws will all need to be much faster than their real life counterparts. And being 3 wheelers, handling them at fast speeds can get really extreme. I mean, just think about it – going around that sharp bend at high speeds will simply send the whole vehicle off the road! And believe me, the roads in those Asian countries are narrow, windy and high up on some cliff somewhere. Should there be a game on this, I feel that there should be 4 modes: Quick race, Season, Story Mode and Online! Quick race mode is your average immediate race mode where you just pick a vehicle, a track, and off you go! In season mode, you compete in a league like tournament like the F1. You start out with the poorest, weakest team in the league, and with each race you can pick a rival to race against. Beat that rival at least 3 times or so, and you get hired by your rival’s team. I’m thinking maybe a range of say 16 different teams, racing in 12-16 tracks all around the world in lapped races. Story mode’s a bit like your Need For Speed Underground meets GTA. Well, sort of. Here, you play the role of a young man, who’s just been hired by a taxi (trishaw) company and has to pick people up and earn money. Sounds boring? Well, no, it can get interesting! Imagine having GTA style missions, where you have to pick and send passengers up and down within a limited time; have high speed chases with rival companies or get chased by cops; get into gang wars with rival companies (like GTA) who want to monopolize every taxi (trishaw) company out there; get involved in underground racing – using trishaws; steal an object using trishaws, etc! I think it can get more intense then that, and with every mission you get money, which can be used to purchase upgrades for your trishaw, and which can be used to take part in season, story or online mode! Not sure what to call this game though – Trishaw Madness? Trishaw Mayhem? Maybe some day…

Games

Games! Games! Games! What will our pathetic lives be without them? The make us laugh, they make us cry, they make us swear, they make us wanna do stuff we shouldn't even be thinking about!

And like Vin Diesel in xXx said "its the only education we've got!"

Long live games!
