It depends. I will buy games from shops (only if they are cheap/someone else is paying for it), on Amazon (no other site) or using Steam. Preferably I'd like to get a hard copy of a game and a digital download (like for Sam and Max: Season One and Two).

If a game is rated 15-18 though I'd definatly get it on Steam (not allowed 15s + 18s).

I'd always get a PC game on the PC. Not an inferior port (learned that with Theme Hospital).

I'd say Company of Hereos. Awesome RTS. Also Commander and Conquer Red Alert and Gold are available free to download too (you probably already have them though).

I haven't ordered the same model but that is pretty much the same specs (apart from the DDR3 graphics...it has Turbo Cache) as my laptop which is coming in the post. You can see how good the graphics card is here...

www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9600M-GT.9449.html

It shows how well a number games performed on a laptop using it inlcluding Crysis (bottom of page).

Multiwinia/Darwinia, Mirrors Edge, Red Alert 3 (I think it is out this winter) and a big list of retro games.

It is the first FPS I have ever felt the urge to complete and it is my favourite FPS of all time. It isn't perfect though. I found "We Don't Go to Ravenholm" pretty boring and "Follow Freeman" was a bit too long. I really want to play other FPSs now as I never releazed they could be so good to play.

I don't get it...

I got this game (only because I got it free with Banjo Kazooie) and got bored of it in 2 days. While multiplayer is very fun, the single player mode was terrible. Repetitive, boring with stupid enemies that lined up for you to shoot them down. Luckily it was preowned so there was a half completed game file but when I played the 2nd Siberia level I just gave up. Fog everywhere, endless enemies and there was no way of knowing where you were going.

Maybe because I got this game last year I don't apperciate it as much as the people who would have got it 10 years ago. Afterwards I stayed away from all FPSs until I got the Orange Box (which exceeded my expectations in every game).

I don't know, they aren't that geeky. I read GameMaster at my Library and it is geeky at all. They are experts in their specialist subject and use game jargon and stuff but that doesn't mean they are geeky, unless people who write TotalFilm (which is probably no more geekier than GamesMaster) are geeks because they know a lot about their specialist subject.
