Happy end of the world Year GameSpot!

Two blogs in quick succession? Shocking I know.

http://wondrouspics.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/celebrate-happy-new-year-wallpaper1.jpg

Happy new year my fellow GameSpotters, I hope you enjoyed your 31st. What did you guys get up to? I spent it with some of my cousins which was good fun,

Do you guys have any new years resolutions? I don't tend to make any but I know a lot of you do.

Also, how was your Christmas? If you guys got any interesting or cool gifts, tell me about them!

Anyway, good luck with your plans for the year, try to make the most of it since it's going to be the last year of the human race.

Merry Christmas GameSpot.

It's Christmas Eve yes but I'm not going to have time to post this tomorrow so I'd like to wish everyone on GS a Merry Christmas and for you guys to enjoy your holiday.

This isn't much of a blog and it's not an indicator that I'll start blogging again any time soon but at least my profile will be a little less stale.

That's all for now, peace!

Hi Guys.

Introduction

Hey guys, how have you been? Got any new games recently? I'm guessing some of you have Fallout New Vegas how are you enjoying it?

I probably won't be getting it. I haven't played a Fallout game and it doesn't look to interesting to me. However, I may get Fallout 3 eventually since it's very cheap right now and since the Fallout games get a lot of good reception, I might as well try it. The console versions got 7.5 here at GS while the PC version got an 8.5, a big upgrade but if I am to get a copy it'd have to be for the PS3 since my PC won't be able to run it.

Some other games that look good have come out this month including Super Meat Boy and DJ Hero 2. I plan to get Super Meat Boy for the PC and although DJ Hero looks fun, I won't be getting that.

Also, a song that I can't seem to get out of my head.

The Title

The title refers to a tough trophy I got recently in Bad Company 2 (awesome game).

Thanks to the help of my good friend Animal-Mother we were able to get the trophy which asks you to knife 5 people on your friends list (they don't have to be different). I never thought I'd get the trophy but thanks to Animal being a big guy on achievements and trophies, he decided we should get it together.

The trophy isn't really a big deal but I thought the name of it was cool so I decided to name the blog after it.

Et Tu, Brute?

New Stuff

So what's new with my life?

Well at the moment I'm borrowing Resident Evil 5 off a friend of mine and being a big fan of Resident Evil 4 I had high hopes and I think that the game has met them. I think it's very underrated, yes, I think Resident Evil 4 is better but that game was so damn good that I don't think people should have expected Resident Evil 5 to be better. I just completed chapter 3-1 which was the boat mission for those of you who have completed it and that was particularly quite intense, especially the bit near the end of the mission where hordes of enemies were coming with those two big ones in masks.

The graphics in the game are stunning, there aren't many games on the PS3 that look better than it. I like the new setting a lot and the game is full of detail, it looks very good in motion. It took a while to get used to the controls since I played Resi 4 on the Wii but once I got used to them I was getting headshots in no time. Co-op changes the game around a lot, it's nice to have someone with you who can actually help you (ah hem, Ashley) and it's a welcome introduction to the series. I don't mind too much about the fact that you still can't shoot and move at the same time since the fact that you can't keeps the game tense. Real-time weapon change also adds to the intensity as in Resident Evil 4, enemies allowed Leon to open up his attaché case and organize his weapons, waiting for him as he carefull chose what weapon he should use to blow their heads off with.

Overall, I'm enjoying the game a lot at the moment and if you played Resident Evil 4 and you enjoyed it, I recommend you try out Resi 5.

That's by Patrick Brown, an awesome artist, check out some of his other pieces.

I also bought Killzone 2 off a friend. I know Killzone 3 comes out in March but he offered it for £6 and I couldn't refuse.

I completed the campaign in the past when I borrowed the game and it was ok. The story wasn't very interesting but the gameplay was fun, it prepared me for the multiplayer aspect of the game and got me used to the controls and mechanics of the game.

I've played 4 matches of online multiplayer since I got the game and I love it. I'm pretty good at it, I've ranked up twice and I have a kill death ratio of 1.75 which is good. There are still a lot of people playing the game and the maps are great, there are only 8 but I've liked every one I've played in so far. I also like this game mode I've been playing, one that constantly switches from Team deathmatch to search and destroy and others in a form of rounds so that at the end of the match, the team that's won the most rounds is the overall winner.

I'm enjoying the game a lot and it's getting me pretty hyped for KZ3. If you've got the game, add me on PS3, the PSN ID is Fabz-95.

I've also been playing a free game called League of Legends thanks to some of my friends from GUFU.

Apparently it's similar to Defense of the Ancients (I say apparently because I've never played the game) and is from the same people. It's an Action-RTS game and it's completely free, things can be bought with real money but everything that can be bought with real money can be bought with in-game money too.

I've been enjoying the game quite a lot, I'm not a big fan of RTS games but this game has been fun so far, particularly with friends. The game has a nice graphical artstylé too but isn't hard to run. Add ItsFabz if you have the game.

That's all folks

That's it really in terms of gaming, I have a one week break off school and I plan on getting the most out of that. Also, I hit level 41 at GS recently and I'm quite proud of that.

Anyway, that's enough about me, thanks for reading the blog.

Until next time!

Fabz_95

So how is everybody?

Hey guys. It's been a while.

I'm sorry I don't update my blog very often and when I do it's usually not about myself but this blog is for my friends who don't post on SW or those who aren't part of SWM or GUFU.

How are you guys?

I've been good, thanks for asking. I now have a PS3 to add to my Wii, PSP and DS. The PSN is Fabz-95 if you want to add me. Just tell me what GS user you are in your PM.

I've been active on GS, I just haven't been blogging.

SWM

I'm still working hard for SWM, check out the latest issue!

Speaking of Halo Reach, do any of you guys have it? If so, how are you enjoying it? I haven't played it yet but the game looks awesome. What about you Football (soccer) fans? Any of you got FIFA 11 or PES 11 yet?

That's it really, just wanted to know how you guys have been.

Until next time!

SWM - A History

System Wars Monthly is a magazine produced by the posters of System Wars. The first issue was posted in October 2007 and was immediately loved and appreciated by all of System Wars.

"

Introducing System Wars: The Magazine

Our System Wars board has grown to tremendus size, and we are proud of having so many people in this board. That is why we have prepared a new magazine for you forum-goers to enjoy! Anything big that happens here will be recorded fromyour pojt of view! We hope this will be the #1 source of information on these forums, even bigger than the "Read the TOS!" thread or the"System Wars Informational Thread" thread (as if anybody actually reads those). So sit back, relax, and read!

Your editor-in-chief, Willy105.

"

System Wars Monthly was made in a time where creativity was needed desperately in System Wars and Willy105 was the man to bring it to System Wars. The magazine was like any other magazine, it contained reviews and general news about video games. However, it had a difference, it was based on the events of System Wars. For example, if a big game scored a low score and it created a lot of commotion on System Wars, it was covered in System Wars monthly. Issues would be posted at the end of each month and it was a good way to look back on what had happened during the month.

The First SWM Cover

Necessities

Although at first it was run by Willy105 alone, as SW liked what they saw, many users joined the SWM team wanting to contribute to the magazine. Over the months, SWM became increasingly popular with more and more content every month as more users joined the team. As the months went by, SWM covered everything that went on in System Wars. For example, in November both SMG and Crysis scored 9.5 and there were huge debates in SW about which would win GOTY, this was the cover story in the November issue. Next month, Jeff Gerstmann was fired which also produced a huge talking point in System Wars (in the past, his reviews had led to huge controversy in SW) and this was the cover story of the next issue.

Willy105 was so dedicated to System Wars and the magazine that he even created a game for System Wars.

The SW Game Trailer

Although the game was a simple one, it was great for all the members of SW as it was based on historic events that had occured in SW, one such example being Super Mario Sunshine scoring 8.0 at GameSpot. SWers were based on animals as these animal terms are used in SW for users that support each faction. Cows are Sony Supporters, Lemmings are Microsoft fans and Sheep are Nintendo fans. These terms are still used in System Wars today.

As if SWM didn't contribute enough to the SW community, in February, a Photoshop competition called IronShop was held between Willy105 and AdobeArtist. It was very exciting as AdobeArtist was clearly more talented while Willy105 had a great artistic $tyle and could incorporate humpur into his images. It was a close battle but the winner was...

As the months went by, the SWM team slowly started to decrease. Users found it difficult to post something every month as User's personal life meant that they didn't have much time to contribute to SWM. This was taken to an extent where in the July 2008 issue, contributions were only made by Tsug_Ze_Wind and Willy105. However, SWM started to make a comeback as DarkSpineSlayer and fabz_95 joined the team taking some of the workload off of Willy and Tsug.

From then on, SWM was going along fine, plenty of content every month, a stickied topic every month and the support of SW every month too. The mag was as popular as ever and it seemed nothing would be able to stop it. That was the case for the most part. Up until mid 2009 SWM was still very popular among SW. However, then something changed. SWM lost it's sticky in SW and had to rely on the users of SW to keep the topic bumped among many other topics fighting for the first page on SW. At this point, there was a feeling of deja vu. Again, users couldn't contribute as much as they used to. In addition to this, it was almost as if SW was getting bored of SWM. For the first year, it was a novelty, something no one had expected. Now it was getting a bit old, maybe even, boring? SWM would get around 2 pages worth of posts and then would be off the face of SW.

This obviously didn't help the morale of the SWM crew as users felt, "Why bother?". However, still in charge Willy105 would do his best to keep us motivated and SWM carried on. SWM had some new members, notably, LegendofNerd, with his photoshop skills, SWM's covers looked better than ever. Things were looking bright again, SWM started to pick up the pace and was becoming popular in SW again. Unfortunately, another problem occured, something that would hurt us twice as much.

On the 20th of Octoberr 2009, Willy105 was banned. It devastated the SWM team, especially since we were preparing for the October Issue of SWM and were also preparing for another Iron Shop in November 2009. However, SWM pressed on as we had enough material to get the October issue out, and with the help of Tsug_Ze_Wind we were able to release another very successful Iron Shop.

The one without Willy.

However, this was followed by another problem. Tsug_Ze_Wind decided to quit GameSpot. This left the SWM to merely five people, fabz_95, DarkSpineSlayer, LegendofNerd, K_smoove and Brianfox1. The future of SWM looked bleak and we didn't know where to go from there. For two months, SWM issues were not posted as people could find the time to write articles and there were onlky a few of us. However, in January we decided something had to be done. It was now or never time, we would either come back and take SW by storm or we would be quite and be forgotten in SW folklore...

We decided to come back. A new union was created, LoN created the union but the 5 of us and Thunderdrone and 789Shadow became the brand new Editors of SWM. We decided that we needed a new team, we created a thread asking users if they wanted to join and we got amazing results. Many users joined the team and we were ready for an awesome issue. We did not dissapoint.

The magazine was five posts long (SW limits each post to 20,000 characters) made the issue the longest issue EVER. We also got a sticky again and the thread is in SW as I write this blog. Why don't you check it out?

The latest issue.

The Return.

The SWM story is a long one with many highs and many lows. However, SWM is back now and is better than ever. It wouldn't be the same without the support of SW and the users of GS and we hope you will continue to support us.

Thank you for reading this blog post and I hope you enjoyed it.

Short Update : Welcome my 16th Wii game. And Portal :D

And its...

Zack and Wiki

Zack and Wiki

The main reason this blog is a short update is because I've only played about 40 minutes of the game.

But from what I've played, so far the game is brilliant.

The graphics are just beautiful. I love the colours, the cel-shading, just everything about the look of the game is brilliant.

And from what I've played, the puzzles and motion controls are fantastic.

Some times you can be really stumped on a puzzle, but suddenly you work it out and get a great sense of achievement.

Well thats all my impressions so far, I'll talk about it in a lot more detail in a future blog.

Portal

I know I'm late to the party but recently I bought Portal off steam (Only £5)

And I now know why people hyped it so much last year

And I know that it's only 19 acts long and I'm on the 16th act

But I honestly don't care.

The game is that good

Some of the puzzles in the game are absolute genius!

Although some can be quite difficult ( a certain one took me 30 mins to beat)

But I think the best part is the robotic woman talking to me and taking me through the tasks.

She's just so funny and sarcastic

But deep down I know shes pure evil xD

Anyway thats all for now, I'll have a lot more coverage on the two games next time.

I'll see you guys next time!

P.S Happy holidays people!

Resident Evil 4? Worth it? Hell yeah!

Resi 4 Wii-Dition

Like I said in my last blog, I have now bought Resident Evil 4.

And I got a pretty sweet deal for it.

I bought it off one of my good friends for £15 (he's only owned the game for about 2 weeks) and thats a great price considering the game is £30 brand new in stores.

I can't say much about the game as I've only played it for about 45 minutes but from what I've played the game is brilliant.

First thing I noticed was the graphics. They are absolutely beautiful. The whole village is full of detail, cabins and houses have small scratches on the wood, when explosions happen if it slightly hits a building pieces of wood will be chipped off, villagers will be wearing rags and look extremely dirty, everything just looks brilliant.

The audio in the game is also fantastic. The creepy music really sets the atmosphere for the game and hearing villagers shouting in spanish at either each other, you, or animals is also very interesting.

Although at first it left me thinking "What the hell..." once I got used to it the controls are great. The wii remote reacts very fast and you can turn and take down a villager with ease and headshots and slashing people with your knife are all extremely fun.

I'll have more coverage on the game once I get into it but for now I'm loving the game and can't wait to play some more.

Other

I told you in my last blog that I was rooting for Obama and he won!

He looks like a great president and I hope he runs America well. Good luck!

I have also got the latest issue of Official nintendo magazine.

There are a huge number of previews, all for great games that I can't even count how many there are. There are also a lot of big reviews such as Animal Crossing wii -90% and Shawn Whites Snowboarding - 80% (also scored 8.4 at IGN).

Overall great issue and the gift is pretty cool too (2009 Calendar).

Anyway thats it for now and I'll see you guys next time!

Short Update: Obama to Win, and Level 29!

Quick Update

Well I finally reached level 29!

As I took a long break from GS it took a while to get there but now that I'm back I've reached level 29!

And now I can't wait as all I need is 1 more level and I'll finally reach level 30!

I can't wait...

And my rank is... Radiant Silvergun?

http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~bevhome/radiant_silvergun.jpg

Looks like some (k)lassic Saturn game!

Obama To Win!

I don't live in America so I can't vote but I'm rooting for Obama!

http://www.getreligion.org/wp-content/photos/small_obama_image.jpg

I just like his speeches and what he stands for and I think it would be great if there was finally a black president for America

Other

As you guys know from my last blog I'm absolutely loved World of goo, and now it got 9.0/10 for wiiware which is great

I didn't expect the wii version to do as well as the PC version but I guess it has.

Plus I may be buying Resident Evil 4 very soon.

One of my good friends has almost completed the wii version and wants to sell it to me, so once he completes it (in about a weeks time) I'm going for it!

And I've seen some videos and read reviews and the game looks great. I can't wait!

http://kennethteo.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/resident-evil-4-wii-edition.jpg

Ok so thats it for now!

I'll see you guys next time
