You are talking about the emotion engine chip. Hardware can only do so much but software can do so much more. And so far it seems no one has had a problem playing ps1 or ps2 games. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, its just not as widespread as one would think when it comes to systems without the Emotion Engine.

Also the PS3 will also have the 65nm cell instead of the 90nm

Do you have any other console to keep you busy? If not, I'd get it. But if you do, I'd wait for the holidays---at least then you'd have a nice library of games to choose from. There's nothing at the moment that screams must get PS3. Be patient, who knows, maybe it'll pay off with Sony announcing a price drop this coming holiday season.

I have a PS2 and a PSP but I'm getting really bored of them. If they announce a price drop for the holidays, will it be only for December? My birthday is December 1 and hopefully the price drop will be around November. What are the chances of them dropping the price for the summer?

As far as price goes, you can get one on ebay fairly cheaper. i got my 20g ps3 for 250. as far as games..... Ncaa football, madden, Gta 4, assassins creed......
