Project Natal

I watched E3 this weekend. Now I like Microsoft, and the Xbox is a fine system, but I really think all the Project Natal hype is...well, just hype. So, we've got a motion sensor for our games. First, its not coming out till summer of next year. This isn't something you should hold your breath over. I don't see why Microsoft even showed it this early, the thing will be completely different when it hits shelves. Second, why do we need this. Vide ogames are there to give you an alternate reality. That's why people play CoD all the time. You could do the same thing, and some people do, and just go paintballing or something. The video game exists to be different. I don't want to live Call of Duty, I want to play it. Would you really want to immerse yourself in the jungles of the Pacific War? I wouldn't. That's what video games are for. Once this thing comes out, your gonna start getting V(irtual)TSD check-ins. Next, what's the Wii for!? If you wan't to feel like you are in the game or whatever, you can play a Wii or smoke cannibis before or something. I like being able to sit my fat duff down on a couch and zonk out. That's part of the fun. Lastly, the Natal is just smoke and mirrors. Not in the sense that it will never happen, but in the sense that it's a distraction from the truth. Sure it looks cool. But what about next year, and the year after that. Right now, the Xbox is your standard gaming system. It's not special but its nice enough. Next year, though, people are going to start noticing the gap. They'll notice how the Xbox just can't handle as well as the PS3. How the experience is just so flat. Why doesn't Microsoft get their butts moving on the 720 instead of dragging their knuckles and wasting time designing new controllers.
