While I agree that a monthly fee for Xbox live is "overdoing" it, I don't see Microsoft ditching the fee anytime soon. They can fund their entire program off the revenue they make from Xbox live alone.
People are lashing out against everything and everyone over this shooting. I said a while back that the shooting itself was only the tip of the iceberg. The fallout from all of this is going to be impacting on a level not seen before. They've posted names of gun owners on newspapers, blamed movies , television, and gaming for the promotion of violence, and now are making it profitable for people to destroy games. Unfortunately the current administration in the White House won't be doing anything to settle this kind of pitch fork and torch mentality.
Ive played all the GTA games, Max Payne, Resident Evil's, Carmageddon, and a hundred other "violent games". And my father kept guns in our house and taught me to respect weapons. Never once have i decided to load up with an arsenal and go to the nearest school and lay on the trigger.
