I'm not one of these "reviewers are crap," kinda guys. I generally consider what the review has written, weigh it, and see if it resonates with me.
Gotta say, this is one of a handful of times that I've a strong suspicion I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this show, even if it doesn't entirely hit the mark. It just seems like a damn fun time.
If it turns out it's complete garbage, I'll come back and say so, but I'm feeling like they went for a more straightforward fantasy romp and some people are disappointed because it lacked the nuance of a 120-hour game or a series of novels that most of the audience likely hasn't read. Not every dark fantasy is going to be Game of Thrones, and that's fine. Besides, remember how that one ended. ><
EDIT: Also, despite my reaction or the critics' mixed reviews, I'm guessing this is going to be one of the most watched series this holiday season, so I doubt there's much of a downside for the showrunners in the short-term. The real question is, will the show build up enough credibility to carry it into the next, and subsequent seasons?
also it did not help reviewer for wait spoiling the ep. i notice how people review now. they got to spoil it... it gets more views!!!! fk everything else.
