Have you ever wondered why people hate gaming? In fact, why do they complain? What grounds do they have to complain? Do you think gaming is bad for you? Well anyway I'm sick of it and so I think its about time people know the good things about gaming.
First thing; Gaming is ridiculously addictive, and fun! You can't get bored of it and it covers all the categories under the sun. Sports, adventure, war, action, and loads more. But there's one important one that everyone forgets (well its actually two!). Education and history. You get loads of educational games and the first that pops to mind is brain training, of course. And going back to history there's loads of second world war games out there, using real time war strategies (medal of honor)......
And then there's English skills, mainly words. All these 12 15 and 18 games out there use sometimes words that I have never heard of before. Lets take GTA IV for instance, its an 18 that's hugely controversial, but no-one sees how it uses mature things to show you how the real world works, and teaches you how to handle guns which I will tell you about later. This game also uses big words, for those of us who aren't quite as intellectual as the rest of us.
And the final two things are Reflexes and handling fire-arms. Firstly, not many people see it like this, but gaming helps our hand-eye co-ordination and reflexes as in most games the second you see it, the second you deal with it. For instance sniping, when you see an enemy you need to quickly get over there, get steady and take the shot, and in racing games, the second you get round the corner, something unpredictable could happen i.e a spin, and you need to quickly turn out of the spin with split second reflexes.
Finally fire-arms. For those of us who go shooting (clay pidgeon, not animals), watching how people reload there weapons in games are actually frighteningly realistic. In the army they have already turned to gaming to help train there trainees, but no one sees this and video gaming retains its bad reputation.
Overall those people who complain about gaming quite clearly haven't tried gaming, and if they had, there opinions would quickly change.....
