How do you figure if there are no more used games that there will be fewer CoD clones and sequels after sequels? If anything, it will discourage people to try out new, INNOVATIVE full priced games, instead, people will stick to what they know, only dishing out the full 70 dollars for the latest iteration of their coveted franchise. I buy used games to try games I would have otherwise never have bought - or had the OPPORTUNITY TO BUY. So innovative games will have to "set a lower price point," and the AAA titles will be stuck way, way up there, probably 100+ dollars, I predict.
What a great read! John Davison, did you used to write for the Official PlayStation Magazine? I think I remember you now...I love to read whatever you write! :D I used to buy OPM from news-stands every month, or at least when there was an interesting cover, which was usually. I have a huge stack of OPM issues from the early 2000s. Do you still talk to Joe Rybiki? But in regards to the article itself, I agree that the aforementioned bill is just plain dumb, I thought Elite was referring to the COD subscription service until I read the article, and I now feel like I played through Mass Effect 3 even though I have never played it or plan to. Too bad about the charity getting caught in the crossfire.
Aris is too good. My hat goes off to him. We desperately need the next console generation ASAP. I am so tired of the crappy graphics. So they got Crysis to run on the XB360...that is not the point. The point of Crysis is that it brought new tech to games. More eye candy! I am not paying for a "new" game that looks like it belongs in 2005! Every game now just takes the Unreal Engine and churns out the same look. Call of Duty hurts my eyes, it looks like a PS2 game on the XB360. I still own Call of Duty 3 for PS2, and it looks exactly the same as Modern Warfare 2, which was the last COD I bought. I bought it used too, Activition has enough money, thank you very MUCH!
It sucks not having backwards compatibility. Sony, in my mind, has had a great track record for being backwards compatible. I might switch to Nintendo.
I hate Mortal Kombat. This game is nothing but gratuitous violence and everyone knows it. Mortal Kombat spoils the opportunity for other somewhat violent games to be accepted by people. They say, "Oh, but remember Mortal Kombat? This game is just like that." Actually, NO, it is not. there is no other game as stupid as Mortal Kombat.
