I highly doubt anyone who uses phrases like "i want ur opinions i spent a a few coins on it. tell me what u think plz!!!" has $30K to spend on a TV.And if they do, why seek validation for your purchase here? Who cares what we think?

Does anyone know if the PS3 will eventually upconvert regular DVD's to 720p? I thought I heard that was going to be an option sometime soon?

It must be my TV because I've got the 1920 x 1024 resolution mode and the tv type set to widescreen. Hmmm...I'll compare it against my component once more and see if the VGA thing is really worth it. Thanks for everyone's help so far...

Ok, so I bought some component hookups yesterday and they worked fine, but I found out that they don't upscale regular DVD's (neither does my PS3).  So I buy the VGA today and the picture looks a little clearer, but now I get a windowboxed picture.  I have a widescreen TV and I set the resolution to 1920 x 1024 and it does fill up the TV but there's about a 2" black border around the edges (my tv is 62").

Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this the case with all VGA inputs?  If it is, I'll go back to my component inputs which filled up the TV very nicely and upscaling my standard DVD's isn't that big of a deal.

Any help/input is much appreciated!

Is there a setting for this? My HD DVD drive plays fine with HD DVD's but I put in a normal DVD and it plays at 480p. I'm using the compent hookup. Will it only upconvert with the VGA or am I totally missing something?

Trust me. I know what surround sound is. I've run a DVD review website for the last 8 years but this is my first venture into using a gaming console as an HD DVD drive. I just need to pick up another optical cable and I'm all set. Thanks for everyone's help!

Ha! Ok, duh...didn't even see it. It's actually ON the plug and not on the actual unit. Ok, I know where and how to go now. Thanks much!

Hello all.  Got my XBox360 last night and love it, got the HD to work, connected to Xbox live, etc. but the one thing I can't figure out how to get to work is getting 5.1 sound out of this thing? I have the HD DVD add on and I know there must be a way to get 5.1 sound out of that?

Is it just a simple optical cable or is it something that is made specifically for the Xbox 360 (I had to buy the component cable set to get HD quality).

I searched around the forum but didn't find an answer.

Any ideas?

Also, I'm connecting this to a Dolby Digital receiver, I've got plenty of inputs so I'm sure it's just a cable I need but want to make sure just in case...
