The DPRK has-literally- the most controlled economy on Earth. If this wasn't true, the crushing poverty they live under would be far less, if they would even be impoverished at all. Sanctions don't have the power to destroy an economy that isn't entirely controlled by a dictator.

...Except the authoritarian regime is the thing keeping them in a perpetual state of starvation, so that's a very stupid opinion. If the DPRK had a less controlled economy, the starvation would decrease. If the North Korean populace was better fed, there's nothing to suggest that authoritarianism would decrease. The ideological acceptance of existing power structures would remain. Millions of Chinese are no longer starving, and the government isn't really any less authoritarian.authoritarianism has nothing to do with the economy. It is a social system not an economic one. you are taliking about socialism.
