Surely if any game deserves a 10 for lastability/replayability then Halo 3 is gonna deserve it. You can play a full single player campaign, online multi-player, online co-op, you can use forge to create an infinite number of variations on maps and game types, you can use the replay feature to watch all your saved games and probably even direct specific sequences to make your own Halo plays etc. The possibilities are almost endless here and this is as extensive as any game I have ever seen (ignore PC game modding/editing etc because that is usually in no way accessable to anyone but the mosthardcoreusers who want to spendmonths figuring out how to actually use thecomplicated game featuresto do even the most basic of things).

If any game had/has enough replay value to get a 10, ever, then I will be disgusted if Halo 3 doesn't get one. I don't know what score the overall game will deserve in the end, or what score the final graphics will deserve etc, but the lastability/replayability must get a 10. Surely!

Surely no one would seriously debate that Halo 3 at least deserves that accolade (go watch the vid at least)...

Hewkii

not all PC editors are like that.

Like I said. Ususally. Not all will be like that but I just knew some dude was gonna come in and say "but you can do that on PC. We have been doing that for years. blah". Just wanted to make it clear that we all know you can change an entire game on PC if you really want to, but most games (even on PC) don't offer anywhere near the level of customisation as Halo 3 in such an intuitive and user friendly way. Most.

If you look at recent videos of this game it's obvious that it is using some very advanced next-gen technologies, such as the Euphoria and DMM engines used for cutting edge object physics with real world material properties or the realistic character animation and reaction systems etc.

I just wonder how this game is going to perform on Wii. Can the Wii pull off all these technological feats? If it cannot then how is the Wii version of the game going to even come close to the original vision for the game. If it can, will people finally shut up and stop saying you can't do this game or that game on Wii because it isn't powerful enough etc? How will the Wii version hold up graphically etc?

I think this game will be one to watch if you are curious as just what can be done on the Wii if you actually try to use some of these advanced next-gen techniques on the system. It will be one of the first multi-platform games, that is going to appear on all systems, that is not just a simple sports game etcthat has no special technologies to really compare. It will also be interesting to see how well they implement the Wiimote controls into this game and see if they can really take advantage of this to offer some very unique and immersive controls on the Wii version.

Worth keeping an eye on...

Get the DS Lite rather than the DS fat. It's not even worth considering the fat, it's so much worse than the Lite in every single way...

Now that the summer is over or at least almost who do you think is going to win the holiday seasonBig_Jay_Mann

Well, if both Mario and Smash Bros make it out for the holiday season then I would go with Wii. I think the Xbox 360 will also do really well because of Halo 3, but I'm not sure if it's going to sell many more machines, because probably most of the people who are looking forward to it are already huge fans and have probably bought a 360 already. It will help to sell more units but I don't think it will be enough for it to outsell the Wii with 2 of it's biggest possible 1st party titles...

freeload, dude, ur taking this way too serious...

ok no war is going to rage because of this, were human and we disagree all the time, but we don't kill people over it.

so religion is another thing that we may disagree on but cares... we can always agree to disagree

my point was all about how this may upset some people, that is it! like how some people got upset when angelina jolie was casted as lara croft :P so yeah discussions and disagreement doesn't always have to end up in blood shed, and religion shouldn't take responsibility for it if it does, cuz we're human and we have brains, if we choose to fight then it's only an outcome of a poor judgment.

grayfox_2k

Maybe I'm influenced by TV but I see men and womenrunning into buildings and tube stations blowing people up because they believe they will go to (insert name of whatever place it is here) if they kill the enemies of their religion etc.

I know that Cristianiantity and other religions have been just as violent and some individual people have commited acts that are just as bad and worse, but when I hear someone bringing up something about how Muslim's are going to be so angry at this game (and that it is going right to their most holy of beliefs etc) then I worry that some extremists may just go out there and blow some people up over stuff like this, even though it is just in a game.

Imagine if the Muslim community now asks for these scenes and places etc to be removed from the game, which seems likely now that it has been brought to people's attention, but Konami refuses to remove the scenes for artistic and budget reasons etc, and then it becomes a bigger issue, and then bigger politics becomes involved etc. Will the Japanese govenrment back down and give in to the Muslim's? Will they stand their ground because they will not be bullied by some religion that is not their own. etc etc blah blah. It may sound exagerrated but how far beyond the truth will it actually be. Will this story just end with Konami changing the game. Let's hope so. Or maybe Muslim's will just let it be in the game. Not based on what you are sayin.

It's stuff like this that starts wars man!

You may not think it is such a big deal. But when I have to worry about going on the underground because some dude with a bomb strapped to him may blow me up, well, I begin to wonder just how stupid and crazy some people actually are.

How far would someone go when they hear that one of the most important citites to them has been portrayed in a way that does against all their religeous beliefs and everything they stand for? How strict is their religion about stuff like this. What does their God say they should do about it? What does their religious leader preach they should do about things like this?

Hey, maybe it shouldn't have been in the game in the first place. Maybe it shouldn't be such an issue that it is, since it is only a game after all.

The point I was originally trying to make though, is that this is not the forumn for such discussions in my opinion and I am annoyed that I have to put up with this religious crap in a games forumn.

I love games. I hate religion.

Why should I have to put up with your religeous crap any more than any Muslim should have to put up with their most sacred of holy cities being portrayed in such a way in a video game.

If they game gets changed, and I think it probably should and most likely will, then doesn't it also seem fair that topics like these should be removed from a games forumn?

If not.

Then keep the city in the game!

You can't have it all.

I say change the city in the game, to avoid uneccessary offence to those who would be offended by this, but in the same vain, remove this topic to avoid any uneccessary offence to those who would be offended by it.

And on that note I can't be bothered saying any more on the topic.

Edit: Just to say that I have no problem whatsover with Muslim's in general. I just have a problem with peoplewho followa particular religion so strictly or use religion to commit extreme acts of violence that anyone with any common sense would know are not truly what any God or being of such power and greatness would expect of them, under any circumstances. Your topic just reminded me of how silly people can be about such things and the idea the someone may actually do such things over a game is just frightning to me, but the fact that you even saw fit to create a topic on it shows me that it is not an idea that is so crazy it could never happen. That is why your topic frightens me and it's why I don't think we should bring up or discuss such things in this game forumn...

A muslim is using Gamespot to preach about some religious place, and then tell me why it is sacred etc, and how some other muslims will be annoyed that it is in a game. Teh_Bob

:| come on i haven't been preachy at all, granted the thread took an offtopic detour for a couple of pages, but i don't think it's wrong for me to note this tidbit about MGS4... i mean if anything it got some people even more excited to see how Kojima is going to incorporate a backstory for the place.

in other words i'm sorry if this thread has pissed u off in any way but in the end we're only discussing a game-specific aspect if MGS4... if it's the title that bothers u then again sorry :P just wanted something to grab everybody's attention

It pissed me off because it's small seeds like this that drive people to wars and hate and violence and killing.

One person says how another has offended his religion and then suddenly thousands back him up and thousands of others disagree, because they believe something different, and then none of them will back down because they all believe they are right, and then the only conclusion they come to is that they need to control and kill those who don't think like them, and they use the excuse of religion and the words of their gods to do so. When I can tell you for a fact that most, if not all (I wouldn't be so presumptious as to say for a fact that no one ever talked to their god, because who am I to say) have never even talked to these supposed gods to get any real take on the matter.

It wasn't an issue until you decided to make it one (even if you don't actually think you were doing anything) and now look where we are.

Why couldn't you and anyone else just have left it alone and let it be, then you wouldn't beannoyed and I wouldn't be annoyed and we could all be happily talking about games, like we should.

I don't preach my beliefs at anyone, until they try to preach theirs to me, however they choose to do so (even if they don't realise they are indeed doing so) but when they do, well then I get on my liitle high horse and say.

Religions kill.

Stop them ALL.

Just live life as a good person and that is the bestany REALGod would ask of you.

That's my religion. That's the word of my God. As spoken from his very own mouth...my own.

This is a scary enough world as it is, and hard enough to live in happiness and peace and love, without people bringing the fear of unknown religious expressions into it. Who knows how some trully religious muslim may act to seeing their supposed sacred city being portrayed in a videogame in such a way. Is it possible that there is a guy out there now strapping a bomb to himself who is going to run up to Konami's headquarters and blow everyone up, just because he trully believes his God wants him to do so, because they offended his religion.

I dunno, but it should never has been raised by any man woman or child in the first place, for it to ever be even remotely a possibility, and that is how dangerious religion is.

Your topic frightens me, because I know there a billions of people out there who may take it even more seriously than you, and may kill for that belief, and that is why it shoud be locked.

That is why there is no place for it in a video games forumn, because even though some naive people think videogames are all about killing and violence, they are not, they are about fantasy and escapism and imagination.

Religion is a whole other game...

Stop funneling this discussions like it's his fault. The Muslim community has gotten much more out of control over smaller situations than this. This is not only a valid discussion, but a valid concern. Kojima should rethink 'Medina'. Really, that's retarded. EVERYONE KNOWS IT WILL OFFEND A CERTAIN PEOPLE - case in point...right here. I won't be suprised in Kojima gets his pants sued off that the Dane comic artist did.

And christians don't over people saying "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas", or in a videogame hot coffee?

If I wrote a game in which jesus commits a sex act with another man christian right wingers would go nuts. What is offensive to one person is not to another and people should respect that whenever possible as long as it doesn't comprise the integrity of the work. I'm sure it would not have been a big deal to move the setting to another setting.

Thats just my opinion

The point is that once we start going down that road we might as well not do anything because there will always be someone somewhere that will be offended.

I would be more offended at the fact that we are restricting peoples freedom of expression and creativity for example, than that we are offending anyone's religious beliefs.

Who is more important, who is correct etc?

I dunno.

Should we all just go to war and kill each other and then the last man standing decides.
