hey dude, yeah I have been dealing with the same problem as you with regards to dirty disc errors with the 360. It's unfortunate that no one on the gamespot forums can actually read and just litter these boards with crap. Anyway, the unfortunate truth is that your 360 disc drive is dying. I called customer support a few weeks back and was informed that many 360's manufactured in early 2006 are susceptible to DVD drive failure if the console gets too hot from extended playing time too often. I looked up more information about this online and found out that Microsoft changed the disc drive they used from 2007 to present, one that doesn't have its sensors so close to the motherboard (which produces enough heat to damage the components). My advice is to just take a wait and see approach. It is a nuisance but definitely watch out for noises upon boot up if a game is in your 360 because that too is a warning sign that it may be time to send in your console for a repair.
