Tabula Rasa beta experience.

I got into the Tabula Rasa beta.

I was not impressed in the short amount of time that I played before uninstalling it from my pc. You can play any assortment of...identically shaped human male or identically shaped human females. If you're only going to have only one race, at least put in some body-type variants. Otherwise, once you put a helmet on, covering your limited choice of face, hair & beard, it's an entire world of identical clones with varying gear. At least let us choose wide, skinny, tall or short, and I don't mean the size slider, that just makes you a larger or smaller identical human. My dislike of fps games aside (other than Bioshock which is brilliant), I thought that the controls were inconvenient & clunky for an mmorpg since they are more geared towards fps play. The world is lovely, though no more interesting than any of the dozens of other mmorpg's out there already, some of which vastly outshine it in graphical beauty. Chocolate may work in peanut butter, but I don't think mmorpg works so well in fps. It'll have a niche, I'm sure, but I don't see this game having any great success.

Thus far, I still stand by Anarchy Online as the best sci-fi mmorpg that has hit the shelves.

Overall, I give it a meh.

I'll definitely be sticking to EQ2. Looking forward to the Rise of Kunark expansion and later on Warhammer Online!

Rise of Kunark box art revealed...

"Cool!"

That was the thought that passed through my mind as I clicked the link announcing the revealed box art for Everquest II: Rise of Kunark.

You would think that the new Rise of Kunark box art would be more...well...Kunarky...like leafy & lizardy. Instead it's just some angsty dark elf who wishes he were Elric of Melniboné.

I remember back in the day when the EQ game covers were truly works of art. The lithographs of the original EQ, Kunark & Velious are framed and hanging in a place of honor in my living room. This looks more like an npc portrait icon from Baldurs Gate that's been blown up. If they were going this route, couldn't they at least have gotten Minsc & Boo for the cover?

Ah well. It's lovely art, yes, but I just expected more adventure and less emo. And in case you don't have a clue what I'm babbling about, I present you with the new cover of Everquest II: Rise of Kunark:

He looks like he smells something foul.

A geek's first post and what I'm playing now.

Yay my first blog on Gamespot! I wasn't even aware that they had added so many toys & gadgets to the site for members to play with until I was recently directed to someone's profile by a friend.

I'm at work, so my first post will be rather brief. I'm currently playing EverQuest II (ever since the day long ago that Ultima Online had landed on my pc, there will always be an mmorpg of some sort in my life). Fortunately this time around I'm not soloing everything. My husband and a number of roommates and friends are also playing, so I've got an automatic group every time I log in. They all started new characters, but I continue to play my original. Fortunately EQ2 allows you to mentor down to the level of others, so I continue to play Gamhuin (69 wizard) with everyone elses new characters until they eventually catch up. Having a good time and happy to share all the new & wonderful content of Faydwer with everyone. I'm really looking forward to Kunark.

I'm also playing Bioshock on the 360. I'd prefer as always to play it on my pc, but the system specs are just a tad bit high and it plays a little stiff when there is a lot happening on the screen. I'm really enjoying the game so far, and that says volumes as I am not a fan of shooters in general. The story is intriguing, the atmosphere is absolutely top notch, with great sound and music and voices and the visuals are a never ending feast of eye candy. It's eerie and exciting and you easily lose yourself in the game. And it's not so difficult that I cannot play it (in other words it's very easy to normal people, because otherwise I would have already left teeth marks on the controller in frustration).

I'm also casually palying Tomb Raider Anniversary on the ps2 and I'm impressed so far and enjoying the game. Everyone was shocked when they discovered that I had never played the original first game. It just had never landed in front of me back during my ramen eating college days... Now this remake of the classic had landed before me in my ramen eating old fogey days and I'm very happy with what I've seen thus far.

Folklore comes out next week! WOOT! I've been waiting for this for some time. Me want now! Gimme!

Okay, first post, yay, woot, etc...
