Games male-dominated? Everything's male-dominated except the most important things like child rearing and community care - which if women did more of the world wouldn't be nearly as screwed.
It was only a matter of time before the games industry grew up - adult gamers (now the vast majority) need mature themes in their games to sustain attention, not fighting monsters, zombies, dragons or saving princesses, although fantasy games have a place, more mature storylines, e.g. Red Dead Redemption or Max Payne 3, are the future it's just a pity that devs other than R* are so slow to catch on, or have so little life experience to craft interesting stories. I guess technical, computer skills and a deep understanding of humanity don't go well with eachother. Shame
The best games are those where your an average guy but get into extraordinary situations. Alan Wake felt a bit like that, but in my opinion went a little overboard with the sci fi elements. Indeed, average aged gamers are ready to move on from monsters, zombies, dragons, etc. Just look at RDR's sales, and I'm sure Max Payne 3 will sell very well amongst grown ups. We need more 'real world' games where developers can teach us something about the human experience.
No one's forcing us to buy the next xbox. Anyway, buying used games hurts the developers the most, these guys deserve our disposable income more than anyone else.
Marko is spot on. I said it years ago, Los Santos and Juarez with the border area being traversable. You play as a deepcover DEA agent from a Hispanic background, or, as an illegal who starts a drug cartel in the States.
In a few short years, all games on all consoles will be digitally distributed. This will destroy every argument for higher prices in oz, e.g. distribution costs, packaging, etc. If I was an exec at EB Games, I'd be preparing for this eventuality right now. They were a good store, but the future exists to screw us all! Change takes no prisoners.
