Well the answer to that is a simple one. There are too many consoles to worry about buying games for and the games on the consoles don't require an overwhelming amount of brain power to play. This is not to say that I have an abundance of brain power nor that I require my brain to play all the games I own, in fact I love shooting my way through a good FPS as much as the next guy. But at least on the computer I know the option is there for me to use my uh...think box. Of course the only way one can really achieve the sort of brain exercise I'm talking about is by playing some kind of strategy game since the adventure genre has essentially been thrown out the window.
P.S. I don't hate consoles either, my console game collections just grow much much slower than my computer one.
